The Johnson Creek 8th grade girls basketball team defeated Fort Atkinson 39-11 while on the Johnson Creek home court Thursday (January 22). Jumping out to a 17-4 lead in the first quarter, the Lady Jays never looked back. Eight players broke into the scoring column led by Kiara Lemminger with 12. Khadija Boss added 8 points, while Brittani Gosh added 6, with Sarah Hantler and Amanda Keeser 4 a piece. Breanna Witte and stacy Draeger each slapped two more on the total. Katie CCwirla added a free throw for one point.
"This was a game where we were able to give our non-starters a lot of minutes in the game. Everyone did an excellent job of playing with great heart and intensity," coach Brice Nelson said. "We had been talking about not letting the intensity level fall when our starters are on the bench. I thought we were able to do this."
The win places the Lady Jays 8th grade record at 3-0 with seven regular games left.
