Massey's Goals Processing Plant and Edwight mountaintop removal mine create fear and outrage in Coal River because they hover over Marsh Fork Elementary School. Use the coal loading silo (right of center) as a landmark in the following photos. Marsh Fork Elementary is less than 300 feet to the right of the silo in photo 1.
To the left (upstream from the school) is a coal sludge dam.
Above the sludge dam is the Edwight MTR mine--an incredibly dangerous arrangement: the MTR mine drains into the sludge dam!
Marsh Fork Elementary School sits just in front of the silo in the middle of the frame.
