Project Tube Chassis Toyota Land Cruiser
Now that I have sold my tried and true Land Cruiser, my attention can now be focus on my next project: A Tube Chassis Toyota Land Cruiser.
The design objective for this project is to create a tube chassis off road vehicle with a low center of gravity, large travel suspension, big tires, and relatively low sprung weight.
The main parts for this truck will be:
- Chevrolet 4.3L V6 TBI engine
- Chevrolet 700R4 Automatic Transmission
- Chevrolet NP241C Transfercase
- Custom Unimog Front Axle
- Custom Unimog 4 Wheel Steer Rear Axle
- 4 Link Suspension with SAW Coilovers
- 42" Super Swamper TSLs on Humvee Rims
To achieve the light sprung weight I plan to build a tube chassis, and use the hood of a toyota Landcruiser I have as platform. The interior will be left to a minimum and keep with a race desgin.
The axles are 2 Custom Front Unimog Axles to achieve 4 Wheel Steering and keep the carnage to a minimum. I also am using Humvee Rims to keep the track with narrower for the tight trails I run in the Upper Midwest.
