The Urban Challenge was the first official event of the 2006 Bele Chere. The
Blue and Yellow teams competed in the 'Water Toss Challenge' to get things
going. The Blue Team won, meaning the Yellow Team had to eliminate one player.
Ken Kroh was the first
Urban Challenge contestants participate in Challenge #4 - 'Locks and Chains.'
The Green Team won the challenge, meaning the Orange Team had to vote someone
off the Urban Challenge Island.
In the final challenge of Day 1, Urban Challenge contestants competed in a rap
song writing and singing challenge. The Green Team prevailed, meaning a member
of the Orange Team had to be voted off Urban Challenge Island.
The Urban Challenge moved to its most physically-demanding challenge of the
competition - the 'U. S. Army Warrior Ethos Challenge.'
The last challenge of the day for the 2006 Bele Chere Urban Challenge
contestants was nothing more than an eating contest. The competition was so
close that a scale had to be brought in to determine who was booted off the
Urban Challenge Island.
The second-to-last challenge for the Urban Challenge contestants was a test of
strength and endurance. The person whose bucket hit the ground first was removed
from the island. Lauren Turner was eliminated.
Stacy Mark of Mars Hill and Aileen Mason of Asheville were pitted against each
other in the final challenge of the 2006 Urban Challenge at Bele Chere. Mason
won the grand prize of a Royal Caribbean cruise by mere seconds over Mark.
