What is this web site for?
This web page allows Pearson University graduates to make
selected parts of their academic records available to
web visitors.
It works like this:
- The graduate signs in and tells this system what information
he or she wants to reveal. Choices include things like
- basic diploma information: name, subject, year;
- grade-point average; or
- full transcript of classes and grades.
The graduate can limit how long the information will be
visible on the web, as a number of days.
- This system builds a web page (a digital diploma page)
displaying that information.
The name of the digital diploma page will be hard to guess, containing
a long string of random characters, to prevent unauthorized
parties from finding the graduate's information. The name
is revealed only to the graduate.
- The graduate can then send the name of the digital diploma page to anybody
who needs access to the information.
For example:
A graduate might . . .
- . . . create a minimal-information digital diploma page, revealing
only name, subject, and year, that never expires, and
include a link to that page in his or her personal web
page; and also
- . . . create a full-transcript digital diploma page, revealing all
information
about classes and grades, for use in the graduate-school application
process, expiring in a couple months; and also
- . . . create a partial-information digital diploma page, revealing name,
date, subject, and GPA, for use in job applications, expiring
in a couple weeks, and include the address of this web page
in job applications.
Any of these digital diploma pages can be taken down immediately when
the graduate no longer wants it.
