Documents have been found indicating that "Henry Whetsell" applied for a government pension, for his time in the U.S. Army, when he was 74 years old. His petition was granted in a document signed by the Clerk, and "dated this 28th day of August, 1832, in the 5th year of the Commonwealth."
The documents from The State of Virginia, Rockingham County Clerk, recording Henry Wetzel's petition and approval, dated 1832, were seen and photocopied, by a descendant of Martin (Hans Martin) Wetzel, in 2005.
