| Notes for Nannie (Nancy) Catherine DAVIS | |||||||||||||||||
| Nannie Catherine Davis was about 8 years old when her mother, Nancy Rowland Davis, died. Two years later, Nannie's father, Thomas Davis , married his 2nd wife, Sarah (Sallie) Rose, who became Nannie's step-mother. 10 children were born to Thomas's 2nd marriage. The marriage date for Conrad and Nancy Catherine was corrected July 20, 2005, from records of Hawkins Co., Tenn. marriages. The date of 1891 was changed to 1890. Conard Whetsel and Nannie Catherine Davis had 7 children, 3 daughters, and 4 sons. The youngest daughter, Annie Leota, died in a tragic accident when she was 5 years old. As of 2005, none of the children of Conard and Nannie are living. Deeds were located at Hawkins Co. court house, for lands bought and sold by Conard Whetsel and Nannie Catherine Davis Whetsel. They were from late 1800's until 1916, about the time the family left Mt. Carmel, with their 3 sons. Two daughters were, by that time, living in Kingsport. A daughter, Annie Leota, had been killed, as a child, in a train accident, near Church Hill, Tn. A portrait of Conard and Nannie Catherine hangs in the Carson Whetsel homeplace today.
