I was going to take pictures of the tear-down process, but really it was pretty easy since most of the plastics were busted off.

This one is a little blurry, but shows the left side of the cowl stay which was still in the right place.

Note here how the horns were shoved into the radiator cap.  I've included a photo from when the horns were mounted for reference.

This shot shows a broken-off exhaust header bolt on the right side.  Read about my bolt extraction process!

The bolt was broken off after the bike was picked up by the insurance company without my authorization.  They hadn't sent a check, I had informed them that I intended to retain salvage, and the insurance adjuster sent someone to haul her away!  You wouldn't have wanted to be on the receiving end of the phone calls that I made after learning about this.  But, all's well, that ends well, it appears that they returned the bike before they got anything more than the right side of the exhaust off.  This picture also shows the missing overhead cover.  This was also lost while the insurance company had the bike.  As of now, it looks like they are planning to reimburse me for all this.

This picture shows how far back the right side of the cowl stay was pushed.  You can also see that the end of the cowl stay stabilizer is bent pretty badly.  Just below the center of this picture is the spot on the frame that the cowl stay bolts to.  The bolt is broken off in the frame.

Here's some shots of the wiring attached to the cowl stay - mainly so I can see how to re-attach it if I don't decide to ride her naked!

Here's a few pictures of the cowl stay removed.  The right mirror is still attached, though it also appears reusable if I can replace only the glass.  Note how badly bent that part of the cowl stay is.

This is where the cowl stay attaches to the frame.  There's no visible damage here.  I don't plan to have it x-rayed, but that's what we'd probably have to do to see if there's any damage to the frame.

And here's the naked ST.  I'm seriously considering looking for an old-style round headlight and then having a chrome instrument cluster back cover made and riding like this a while...  Probably won't do it, but I'm thinking about it!
