Ouxelle

Ouxelle is the northernmost of the towns of Nouvelle Vhaston and lies on the northwest bank of the Voire river.

Government :
Ouxelle's Lord has complete control of all governance of the town and region around it.  Though as yet there is no elected council as in Caveis the Lord does convene bi-monthly meetings with prominent citizens and the advice of the garrison captain is also usually listened to.

  • Lord : Etienne IV de Vramont, 4th Lord (since 971)

  • Regent : Michel de Vramont, great-uncle of Etienne

  • Steward : Guien de Frouet, cousin of the Vramonts

  • Sheriff : Iseun Naplean

Population & Settlement :
Ouxelle has a population a little over 2000 (86% human, 12% halfling, 2% other).  Cuirville is home to the majority of the halfling population and is practically its own town though officially just part of Ouxelle.

Industry :
The areas around Ouxelle are mostly devoted to cattle ranching, with a few smaller farms sprinkled around.  Within the town itself there is a large tanning and leather working industry much of which is exported to the towns to the south.  Ouxelle is also the staging point for caravans going north to Roulez, Talbriq and lands beyond.  As such you can find many businesses catering to travelers, wagon repair, provisioning, etc.  Fishing is not as important here as it is in town further to the south, the latter feel that being closer to the "Lands of Despair" any fish from Ouxelle is suspect.  This does not stop local fishermen catching enough for local needs.

History :
Ouxelle was founded by a younger son of the second lord of Caveis in the year 939.  Though it had a shaky start Ouxelle has grown into a prosperous small town and has shaken off it dependence on its mother town.
