Vhaston Region

This region (formerly the NE section of the Empire of Anhkvaris) suffered greatly from the Great War and it's aftermath.  It is estimated that over 90 percent of the population was killed or fled.  Only a few towns survived and even those where sparsely populated.  Slowly small bands and families arrived to settle the abandoned land, most fleeing from Leurens or the Hordelands.  Major boosts came with the founding of Grieuse and Nouvelle Vhaston.

Grieuse :

Lands of Despair :

This land is where the old capital of Ankhvaris was located.  The capital and a large area of land around it was destroyed in a horrendous magical explosion at the end of the Great War.  The area is completely magic dead and pits of lava are commonplace.

  Government : None

  Population : Unknown

Lilifor : (1)

After the Great War Lilifor seemed destined to be nothing but ruins.  Between monster incursions and human and humanoid bandits things looked grim.  Several representatives were sent out to find aide or at least a safe place to evacuate the remaining inhabitants to.  As it so happens one of the townsmen found an isolated keep that was home to an order of knights (leftovers from the Empire of Anhkvaris).  After listening to the story of Lilifor not only did the commandant agree to help but offered to relocated the order to the town.  After the coming of the order, the good luck of the town increased greatly and Lilifor has become a stable haven.

Government : Power is shared by the commandant of the Order of Red Eagle and an elected mayor.

Industry : Lumbering and wood working are large industries in Lilifor.

Population : Other than Nouvelle Vhaston, Lilifor has the largest population of any town in the area, approximately 5600 adults (90% human, 5% halfling, 1% dwarf, 4% other.

Nouvelle Vhaston :
  See Nouvelle Vhaston

Oldibar : (2)

Government : Town Council - Oligarchy

Industry : Most people in Oldibar are employed in cattle raising or in supporting the merchants who come through to trade with Alquithar.

Population : Oldibar has about 1800 adult inhabitants (75% human, 10% halfling, 8% half elf, 3% elf, 4% other).

Roulez : (3)

Roulez's recent history has had two distinct phases, both of which revolve around the Druid Archembaud.  The first part was antagonism between the druid and the town over the "depredations against nature" that the town officials were accused of.  Though it never got violent, the constant haranguing by the druid finally got to the mayor.  He finally reached his limit and in a highly controversial move he quit and appointed Archembaud as mayor.  And so the second phase began, that of Archembaud transforming the town into a model settlement at peace with nature.

Governtment : For the past 12 years the druid Archembaud has ruled Roulez, nominally as mayor, though there has been no elections since he came to power.

  Industry :
Using his vast knowledge of nature, Archembaud has helped Roulez develop an industry based mostly on specialized agricultural goods.  Among the products made are various dyes, wines, goat cheeses and mushrooms.

Population : Adult population is about 2400 (85% human, 10% halfling, 5% half elf, 5% other).

Talbriq : (4)

This town is the ancient capital of the Duchy of Evreau, created for and ruled by a branch of the imperial house of Vhaston.  After the downfall of the empire of Anhkvaris, Talbriq was a magnet to many of the titled nobility of the area (including for a while the heirs to the imperial throne).  Even with the founding of Nouvelle Vhaston by the imperial heir many of these families have remained in or near Talbriq.

Government : Full power rests in the hands of Guillaume XI de Vhaston, 17th Duc d'Evreau, Lord of Talbriq, who is of a younger branch of the Imperial House of Vhaston.

Industry : Besides the normal agriculture and low scale crafts, Talbriq is home to the finest gem cutters, gold smiths and jewelers east of Alquithar.

Population : There are about 4300 adults in Talbriq and the surrounding area (96% human, 1% dwarf, 3% other).

Prominant Families/People : Vhaston-Evreau Family

Vourbon Ruins :

This town was destroyed about 70 years ago by orcs who had been forced to flee Leurens.  The orcs have been in occupation ever since.

Government : Unknown, other than orcish tribe(s).

Industry : There is no legitimate trade with Vourbon, though there have been rumors of traders from Leurens going to the area.

Population :  Estimates vary from 2,000 to 8,000 humanoids (mostly orcs).

  Prominant Families/People : Vhaston-Vourbon Family

Other Areas :

Ruins - Including Vourbon there are four ruins marked on the map, this only represents the largest ruins, places that used to be towns.  There are numerous abandoned farmsteads, keeps and villages in the area (especially in the east).

Settlements - Only the larger towns are marked on the maps above.  There are a number of villages, farmsteads and the like here, especially in the south.  Lands north of lake Genais have for the most part reverted back to a wild state, very few settlements of any size appear in this area.
