Grod was abandoned by his hobgoblin father at a young age, after it was found out he was the product of a rape of the mother (a human) by an ogre.  Young Grod was forced to fend for himself on the city streets, his size made him perfect for mugging and eventually as an enforcer for a gang.  He was caught by the authorities and sentenced to the gladiator pits, where he made a name for himself.

   Grod is a massive 7' half ogre, whose body frame looks like a giant dwarf.  Sometime in the past he lost his nose which has been replaced with one made of steel.  He wears (seemingly at all times) a knee-length chainmail hauberk.  This hauberk has been modified with lengths of chain added running like stripes up and down (giving an effective AC of +6).  Also worn are a pair of steel reinforced knee-high boots and helm decorated with claws from various creatures.
