Richard to all outward appearances is a member of the Grand Seneschal's household, and in charge of taking care of the main estate.  In reality Richard is an illegitimate child of the Grand Seneschal, though for over half his life he was unaware of it.

    Richard's early childhood was spent on his maternal grandfather's farm, moving from there to Nouvelle Vhaston when his mother married a merchant of that city.  The next few years were hard on young Richard as his step-father was abusive to his mother as well as to him.  One day Richard came home to find his step-father severely beating his mother, and in his rage slew his step-father.  Unfortunately he was too late as his mother passed away less than an hour later.  Fearful of what the authorities would do to him, Richard fled the town.  He made his living any way he could, bodyguard, bandit, enforcer, assassin, etc.  Little did he know that his true father happened to recognize the name of his mother in the criminal report and was very interested in finding this young man who was just the right age to be his son.

    Years later the agents of the Grand Seneschal caught up with Richard and pretended to have work for him, but in actuality it was a cover to bring him into the presence of his father.  At first Richard would not believe that Thierry was his true father, and it was only after asking his grandfather that he finally accepted it.  Thierry tried to take Richard under his wing, but Richard's background was just not suited for a life at court and Thierry decided to give in and accept Richard's existing talents.

    Since that time Richard has acted as an agent for his father when contacts with "less savory" elements are needed.  He also has performed several missions for his father, and supports his father's dream of the restoration of the empire of Anhkvaris.

    Richard is now 39, and has kept up the maintenance of his body.  He is thought to be thin, but with a wiry strength.  He has shoulder length black hair, dark brown eyes and a clean shaven face.  He has never been known to smile in public.
