What are Champion Levels and how many are there?

These are new sub-levels in Dark Age of Camelot like Master Levels, Crafting Levels and Realm Ranks. They grant you certain privelages, abilities, and titles. There are 5 Champion Levels.

How do I earn these Champion Levels?

By earning exp. Plain and simple. For each 2 million exp you earn you get 1 Champion Experience Point. You also must be level 50 and purchase Darkness Rising to begin on the path to Champion Levels. You must speak with your King in the throne room to advance in level, but may still continue to earn Champion Level Experience for the next level regardless.

How many Champion Experience Points (CL exp) do I need for each level?

Each champion level requires 32,000 CL exp. That means you need 6,4000,000,000 normal exp for one Champion Level.

What is the best way to get CL exp?

First off, do your Champion Quests. Chapter Three provides 2 and 1/2 levels worth of it. Catacombs Quests can yield massive CL exp, and Task Dungeons give 440-650 CL exp for finishing your task, RvR gives good CL exp, but time between kills, victims recently dying, and dying yourself seriously slow this down. The upside is you are also earning Realm Points while earning CL exp in RvR.

Do exp bonuses affect CL exp?

Yes, all bonus experience (from guild bonuses, realm outpost ownership, artifacts, killing near an outpost you own, etc) directly affect CL exp.

What is this I hear about casters using swords and shields?

At Champion Level 3, you gain the use of all simple weapons and small shields if you do not already have them. For Albion and Hibernia, this means all one handed melee weapons. Midgard players gain the use of all two handed melee weapons except for spears.

Does this mean Vamps can use shields?

Yes. Vampiirs can use Shields, and they use their claw attacks just fine.

Are Champion Quests and Champion Levels related?

While you do earn champion level exp once you are level 50 by doing the quests, the quests are not actually awarding you Champion Levels. Those come solely from exp after you have reached level 50. The quests just let you get your weapon earlier and provide lots of CL exp, plus all the nifty drops.
