During the spring of 2004, Venus rapidly "fell" toward the sun and its inferior conjunction in June, and its much anticipated transit across the face of the sun on June 8th. This series of pictures taken starting April 1st shows the simultaneous increase in angular size and decrease in phase. Earlier versions of this photo composite were featured as the Astronomy Picture of the Day and the Earth Science Picture of the Day.
