Read
this "behind the scenes" story about an early online game
clan and how they rose from a troubled start to play in the famed
Online Gaming League, to their subsequent break-up after the release
of Quake III.
This
story covers the harsh realities of the male dominated first person
shooter game scene. A world where hard core gamers meet to have

Random thoughts
from a net gaming veteran...
"Now that I look back on it, I know it was just a passing fad.
And like all fads they seem like they will last forever when you are
in the middle of them. But, eventually people will loose interest
and move on to the other things that life has to offer. Some of us
take longer to realize that and end up looking around and wondering...
"what happened to everyone?". Of course you wouldn't be
able to apply the same passion to something if you knew it was going
to die out and you would be the last one who gave a crap. Yes, there
are still clans and people who are devoted to them. But, I think you
need some kind of catalyst to keep things going. Either a charismatic
leader who drives the clan through every conceivable obstacle. Or,
a group of people who have more in common than an email address and
a string of chat room rap sessions."
