CH. KENNLEE TREASURE HUNTER

(BIS BISS CH Ballymera's Stormin' Norman X CH Kennlee Sugarshack)

(April 95 - October 02)

HUNTER

We had several setters before Hunter, but he is the reason we decided that Irish Setters would be our "forever" breed.  Hunter was not "perfectly conformed" but he was beautiful and a wonderful show dog; he always gave a 110% performance.  The few times I traveled without him, he greeted me at the door and would let me know that he was not pleased that he had been left at home.  He was first in his obedience class and at the National field demonstration, he performed so well we were asked how many field legs we had on him; this dog that had just seen the first quail of his life.

Hunter was the smartest dog I have ever owned, to include my German Shepherd so I knew I could do any discipline with him.  Obedience and field were those things I was going to do "someday".....but unfortunately "someday" never came.  He was my heart dog and I'll never stop missing him.

CH SIERRA LYN AIRTIGHT ALIBI

(CH Sunshine's Remember When X CH Sierra Lyn White Diamonds)

(March 97 - November 07)

This is our Ali.  She left us way too soon.  She was the Princess/Queen/Empress of the Daventry den.  She was regal in every way.  No dog (male or female) in this house ever crossed her; she commanded every room she was ever in without making a fuss or a growl.  Everyone just seemed to know she THE Queen.

Ali was truly beautiful!  She had beautiful conformation and won many BOBs and a Puppy BIS, but it was never really her "thing"....so she was shown on a very limited basis.  She was so beautiful and easy to travel with that, I always wanted to campaign her but she really thought that going in circles in the ring was beneath her and her attitude frequently showed.  We loved her for all the things she was...a beautiful, loving, companion.  We miss her terribly.

CH BALLYMERA'S CLOSE TO DAVENTRY

(CH Qualifield's Mak'n Business X CH Ballymera Hurricane)

(Apr 97 - Jul 09)

This is Fallon.  Fallon was our "mother" in the group.  She loved all puppies and was determined to be everyone's mom.  Fortunately, the other girls in our house never minded when Fallon took over.  She had a very sweet nature and loved everything and everyone.  Never a cross moment or a growl to anyone.  She loved to show and was always pretty easy....but the rule was put her feet where you wanted them the first time.  Once they were down they were concrete to move.  She knew she was supposed to stay still....so she wouldn't move a foot...even when you wanted her to : )  We miss her very much.

DAVENTRY DIAMOND IN THE RUFF

(CH Sierra Lyn Academy Award X CH Ballymera's Close to Daventry)

(Aug 01 - Apr 09)

This is Ruffian.  Ruffy was Ice's partner in crime and they were very close.  Ruffy had a very sweet temperment and never grew out of puppyhood.  She was the life of the party at the Daventry Den.  We lost her way too soon and still miss her very much.

SIERRA LYN BOOMER

(Sierra Lyn Joe DiMaggio X CH Sierra Lyn White Diamonds)

(Oct 97- Nov 09)

This is Boomer.  He came to us by chance but we were so glad to get him.  Boomer was always busy....busy with the birds, the squirrels and the other dogs but often too busy for us!  He would walk by and want one pat on the head and before you could put the second pat on the head, he had moved on.  He had so much spirit and nothing kept him down.  The picture above is how I will always picture him....looking up into the tree, looking for a squirrel.  He is busy chasing everything that moves at the Bridge.  We miss his zest for life.

KENNLEE INSPIRATION

(CH. Kennlee Silver Dollar Spechal X CH Scarlly's Love of Kennlee)

(Dec 92 - Aug 06)

This is Holly Noel.  She was our first true conformation showdog.  She was beautiful, but learned early on that the couch in the motorhome was more comfortable than running around a ring.  She got several points and then figured out the show process.  She went around the ring obviously unhappy, but when the judge pointed 1-2-3-4...she jumped up and came alive.  The last time she was shown, she got so excited the judge pointed and it was over, that she jumped on the judge, wagging wildly, bumped into the table and spilled the judge's water.  The judge said "if she had shown that much animation in the ring, she would have won".  This is when she was retired to the couch...where she happily spent the remainder of her days.  I miss her crazy antics.

CIMMARON VICTORY PARTY

(CH. Kennlee Spechal E'Nuf  X CH. Kennlee Momentum)

(Apr 91 - Apr 05)

This is Scarlett.  Scarlett was a gift from Tom to me, but I'm not sure she knew I existed.  She was Tom's girl through and through.  Scarlett was Tom's first Irish Setter and she is the one that sold him on the breed I already loved.  I'm so grateful to her for setting the stage for all the others to come.

Before the internet and digital pictures I had Rusty, a dog I rescued ( ?-1979) and Dynasty's Ryan (1980 -1989)
