Dear Diary... (continued)

December 8/2003 - Here is the pile of wood I ordered for the wings. That's a lot of 1/8" sheets!

December 8/2003 - Here are the results of my return visit to Mr. Scroll Saw.

December 8 - Geez!... I hate making wing skins... So boring!

December 8/2003 - Here is the plan for adding outboard flaps and radiator cooling flaps. The wing T.E. and aileron L.E. will be extended to W4 rib. The outboard flap will have a torque rod attached to one side of the flap servo. The radiator flap will have a control horn attached from the inside of the radiator to the other side of the flap servo (ala PCM 109 method) Notice I changed the angle of the aileron root at W-7A to have a more scale appearance.

December 8/2003 - Here is the left wing skin with the rib locations penciled in and the outboard flap and aileron cut free.

December 8/2003 - I first glued the lower spar assembly and aileron servo hatch support plate to the lower wing skin.  Wing rib W-4 was then glued down so that the wing T.E. can be located and glued down as well.

December 8/2003 - Here is a close up of the lower spar assembly and the aileron hatch support plate. I redesigned the hatch support plate so that the servo can be mounted to a hatch and screwed the the support plate in order to hide the servo. (ala Top Flite method)

December 8/2003 - Here the left wing with ribs W-4 through W12 installed. Wing ribs W2 and W3 will go down when I get to the retract installation. Wing rib W1 will be installed when The wings are joined.

December 8/2003 - Here is a close up of the left flap servo support plate. Notice that I recessed the support in order for the servo arm to be concealed inside the radiator.

December 8/2003 - Here is the right wing with outboard flap and aileron constructed.

December 8/2003 - Here is a close-up of the right outboard flap and aileron.

December 8/2003 - Here are the two sections put together just to see how big this thing is.

December 8/2003 - Geez! this thing is gonna be a monster!
