Interior Refurbishing

When I picked up the car, the interior was VERY dirty, full of grease and totally faded from living it's life down in the sunshine state!  So I began tearing out ALL of the interior pieces, getting them ready for a facelift. After shampooing the carpets and seat, I started on panels by cleaning them up thoroughly and getting some ready for new paint. I use Castrol Super Purple cleaner, diluted 50/50 with water, and a light-duty scrub brush.  The vinyl pieces, including door panels and sides of the seats came out perfect! But the plastics where much too faded to look good ever again.

So I ordered up some SEM paint from work, and some vinyl/plastic prep & cleaner.  Ran down to AutoZone and got some Dupli-Color Adhesion Promoter.  The paint I got in Wedge Wood Blue.  The color is slightly lighter than the original interior, but the only other color SEM offers is a dark blue, which was not even close.

Then I got to work. I lightly scuffed the panels with a scotch pad, then cleaned thoroughly with the cleaner, and let them dry for a few minutes. After drying, I applied the adhesion promoter as directed, waiting only a few minutes before applying the SEM Color Coat. They turned out beautifully!

I still need to paint the lower pieces. just making sure the color is OK here.

A little lighter, but they all look NICE now that they are done!

Some of the pieces were cracked and some completely broken up.
I used small pieces of fiberglass matting and some resin to reinforce these pieces.
I even re-textured the topsides so they are nearly flawless!
