Stereo Installation
I bought the car with no radio in it at all. We drove it home from Florida to Wisconsin, 22hrs and approximately 1400 miles, with NO RADIO, no cruise, no A/C, and not much of an exhaust. Talk about a long trip home...
Being that I manage a local stereo shop, doing a custom install for some great tunes, and yet keeping it looking stock is NOT a problem for me. So far, the car is still currently being repainted, so the stereo is not fully in yet, but here's a short list of what I have that is waiting to go into it:
- /////Alpine CDA-9847 AM/FM/CD/MP3 Player
- /////Alpine
SPS-171A, 6.5" components up front (Type S)
- /////Alpine
SPS-170A, 6.5" Co-Axials in the back (Type S)
- /////Alpine
SWS-1241 12" subwoofer in a custom sealed box (Type S)
- /////Alpine
MRV-T200 Amplifier
The head unit will power the four satellite speakers, while the small Alpine amp will power the sub. The enclosure will be a small, circular one made to fit the spare wheel well perfectly. It will be completely removable for track days, leaving only the small amplifier in the trunk area, completely buried and out of sight. This setup will allow me full trunk space for my daily driving duties, allowing me to haul my tools and tinting supplies, as well as luggage for short trips. But come track day, it will be simple enough to remove the subwoofer and rear deck to save some weight.
