I started by stripping the hull and deck
clean, leaving on the hatch coaming only.
I peeled off the original hull pinstriping, and sanded the original blue
paint off, I used
a very mild varnish/finish remover on the deck until it was clean.
With the deck sanded and ready for finishing, I striped the whole deck
with 1/4 automotive pinstriping tape and with a really blunt tool sealed
the edges of each stripe as they went on. Each stripe was edge to edge
with the next running lengthwise.

| Then I peeled off every other strip, and,
again I took a blunt plastic "tool", scrap plastic with a nice rounded
edge, and rubbed the edge of each remaining stripe to prevent bleed under.
I stained the initial exposed area with the dark stain first, I used a
dark stain "pen" normally intended for touch ups that had about a 1/4 inch
wide angled flat tip (I'm sure you could use a sponge or rag wetted with
dark stain too) I think I did each exposed area twice, and then removed
the remaining pinstripe with a quick snap while the dark stain was still
wet, this cuts down on peelback and such. |

| Once the Dark stain had dried, I stained
the whole deck with the lighter stain. Then I used a fine point sharpie
marker to make the board end lines. Once all that was dried, I covered
with a clear coat. |
