1956 Oldsmobile
My 1956 Oldsmobile is a Super 88 Holiday Coupe. I purchased it in Los Angeles in 1979 and drove it home to Minnesota. It was assembled in South Gate, CA, a suburb of LA. I don't think it ever left California until I bought it. It has never been driven during the winter and is totally rust free. It has passed through many owners, reaching a bottom value of $100 before it was repainted during the 1970s.
Options are power steering, power brakes, Wonderbar radio, power antenna, 6-way power seat, Hydramatic, back-up lights, light package, rear seat speaker, Fiesta Spinner wheel covers, dual exhaust, clock, and a reel-out trunk light.
The original engine was always a little tired, getting only 300 miles to a quart of oil. In 1998 I pulled the original 324 V8 and replaced it with its big brother 394 V8 from a 1962 Olds. At this time, I also replaced the loose steering gear box with a later model from a 1970 442. Details of these swaps are on the 394 Swap page.
For any who still have the original motor in any 1949 to 1959 Olds V8, you might consider replacing the original canister oil filter with a modern spin-on filter, by using the adapter at: Oil Filter Adapters
Unfortunately, I had to sell this car in June 2007 to make room for a newer acquisition.
