The Dees Diversion is published by Diane Elayne Dees, a psychotherapist and writer in Louisiana. Diane has published short stories, poems, essays, and creative nonfiction in a number of journals and magazines. One of her short stories was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, two recent poems were also nominated for Pushcarts, and she has won various smaller prizes for her poetry and fiction. Last year, Diane read two of her poems on the NPR program, "Theme and Variations." This year, as in 2005, several of her poems will be read on "The Naturalist's Datebook," a regular segment on Martha Stewart Living Radio. Diane is also a columnist for Moondance.
Diane has done extensive political writing for several electronic political zines, and is a regular contributor to the Mother Jones MoJo Blog. In 2004, she appeared as a guest on Laura Flanders' radio show, "Your Call," and in 2005, her blog was featured on the CNN segment, "Inside the Blogs." Diane is a member of the Green Party.
Diane and her husband, Orvin Tobiason, published Princess Café, the world's only virtual rock and roll restaurant, from 2000 to 2006. Diane enjoys writing, cooking, organic gardening, reading, and listening to many types of music.
The Dees Diversion covers liberalism in general, and feminism and animal liberation in particular, as well as contemporary social mores and women's professional tennis, which Diane has followed for decades.
