While playing jazz with the Francois Vola Group in Hickory, NC, in the 1990s, this trio also continued to perform acoustic jazz and "newgrass" music at coffee houses, concerts and festivals in North Carolina. A highlight was a performance on the Cabin stage at MerleFest 95 in front of some 30,000+ people (scheduled between Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and the festival ending All-Star Jam). They also performed with legendary banjo player Bill Keith, at Green Acres Music Hall in Bostic, NC.
