BAL Leveler Modification
And homemade single wheel lock chock
I
have seen and heard of ways to store the BAL Leveler to keep from getting
grease on you from the threaded shaft.
Some of the ways were cover with 1” pipe foam, make a holder out of 1”
PVC pipe and buying a pizza carrier bag to store the whole thing in. Since I carry mine in the back of the TV
going camping and in the basement when not camping I devised a cover using the
base of a plastic toothbrush holder, 1” conduit, cut to length, and 1” foam
pipe cover. I drill a 1” hole in the
bottom of the brush holder and insert the conduit about a ¼” into the bottom of
the plastic holder and hot glued inside and out of the plastic container. I then wrapped and glued the pipe foam
around the pipe and plastic holder. Cut
across center of plastic holder about ¾” to 1” and off one side with a band
saw. Placed cover over threaded shaft
and used bungee cords to hold in place and keep leveler together.
Greasy shaft

Cut
plastic container approx. 1” down and then cut one half off.

Bungee cords help hold and
keep the cover on and in place. Stored along basement wall, no greasy mess to get
against.

I made this locking chock by welding a couple of chocks and adding a turnbuckle to tighten them together.
