Governor Ronald H. Belcher joined and has been a member in good standing with the O’Fallon and O’Fallon/Fairview Heights Lions Club with near perfect attendance since 1977. He has served in a Club Officer position each year, including President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director multiple times. He served as the Guiding Lion with perfect attendance with the Shiloh Lions Club for one year. He also has served as the Club Committee Chairperson for numerous fund raisers including the annual pancake and sausage breakfasts, the semi-annual BBQ’s, and Candy Day’s. Governor Belcher has been named Lion of the Year three times by his Club.
Governor Belcher has served on the District 1-CN Cabinet as a Zone Chairman and Associate Editor of Lions of Illinois Magazine for multiple terms. He served as the trainer for Secretary training for District 1-CN for several years. He served two terms as Cabinet Secretary-Treasurer. Governor Belcher received an International President’s Certificate of Appreciation from International President William L. (Bill) Biggs and he is a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Governor Belcher holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering from Purdue University, a Master of Science Degree in Education from the University of Southern California, and a Masters in Business Administration from Auburn University.
Governor Belcher retired as a Lt. Colonel after serving 22 years in the United States Air Force, and retired again after serving 23 years in middle management with Ameren Corporation. He has lived in O’Fallon, Illinois since 1977. Governor Belcher was married to the late Frieda Belcher for 38 years, has a son Ronnie and daughter Ann who both are married, has five grand children, and one great grandson. He is an active member of the St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in O’Fallon.
