Chapter 13
Spot sighed as he entered the lodging house, three boys following after him. The youngest and shortest of the group stood at about 4 foot 7. The 13-year-old appeared to be very cheerful. His flat brown hair and hazel eyes didn’t make him stand out in the crowd. A hat was perched on his head.
"Hey," Karl Peterson or Pom Pom yelled suddenly as his prized hat was taken off his head, its red pom pom swinging in the air.
"Do you always wear this thing," Spot asked with a smirk, studying it closely.
"Yes," Pom Pom replied, jumping up to try and reach it. Spot held it just out of his reach, "Give it back!"
"Give it to him already," one of the other boys spoke up. His sandy dark brown hair was cut closely to his head and his blue eyes showed a hint of anger. He stood up to his height of 5 foot 4 as if to intimidate Spot.
Spot smirked once again and tossed the hat down to Pom Pom, who snatched it quickly out of the air. Spot didn’t look at all fazed by Spike’s glare and continued up the stairs to the bunkroom.
The third boy followed behind them silently. He was very skinny with very tanned skin and black hair. His dark brown eyes and pointed nose completed the rest of his rounded face. Steven, or Rat, hurried up the steps when they quickened the pace suddenly.
"Where were you Spot," a voice said as they entered the room. Racetrack grinned at his friend, who he hadn’t visited in a while.
"I had to show them where the lodging house was," Spot explained, leaving the three newcomers to find their own bunks, "What are you doing here?"
"Getting away from Manhattan Lodging House, that’s what," Race replied. Spot glanced at him in disbelief, "Ok, the girls wanted me to invite the girls from here to a ‘party’ they’re having."
"What party," Spot asked, a little more interested now.
Race shrugged, "Don’t ask me…the guys aren’t invited. They’ve been talking about it all week, but we don’t know a thing. It’s tomorrow night."
"The girls do like to leave us in the dark," Spot commented, "Have you asked them yet?" Race shook his head.
"I was about to though," he told him, "But first, are you and the guys interested in a poker game at Manhattan Friday night?"
Spot glanced at him with a quick smirk, "Of course."

Race reached the girls’ room quickly and stood quietly in the doorway for a minute. One of the girls finally noticed him and nudged the girl next to her.
"What do you want," Smartass asked him, a warning in her voice. She glared at him, waiting for an answer.
"Just wanted to invite you to a party," Race grinned, "The Manhattan girls wanted me to ask you."
"We’d love to come," Pillow shouted suddenly, causing all the other girls to wince from her loud voice.
"I guess we could go," Scribble told him, smiling slightly. All the other girls nodded, though Smartass did so reluctantly, "Yeah, we’ll be there."
Notes: Yes, all the girls will be in the party chapter! It will be next and hopefully you’ll enjoy it.
Shout-Outs:
Buttons14 – Hmm, I had no idea I unlocked the scroll bar. I didn’t even know I could do that. Princess Diaries 2 was a pretty good movie. I saw it at a Drive-In theatre. It was fun.
TheAngryPrincess13 – Hey, my friend saw Newsies in her choir class. It felt so special to tell her all about it and talk about the characters. I also got my best friend interested in the movie and now she loves it.
SmartassLeprechaun – Well, this year, we’re having a whole new schedule for theatre. Actually, next week are auditions for our first play ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Then after that is musical, which is Godspell this year. Then it’s UIL One Act and the 10 min. Play Marathon. I’m actually entering the marathon by writing my own play. It’s student directed and student written.
Ccat – Yeah, this one was short too, but it’s really all I can do with the time I have. Next one will be longer. And you’re welcome. I like using his character.
ShortAtntionSpaz – You like Golden? Yeah, I liked introducing him into the story.
Sparks Kelly – You love the Monkees too! Yeah! I have a lot of merchandise with them. Yeah, drawing the characters is fun. I don’t have a lot of time to draw though, so I might start bringing the descriptions to school to work on them there.
Shooter O’Brien – Yeah, you do have to be overprotective with these guys. So many girls want them that you have to hold onto them when you get them.
Allaboutelephants22 – Yes, PE would be fun with the guys and girls together. Mostly because I prefer to watch than to actually participate.
Written Sparks – Don’t worry about missing chapters. I understand that it’s hard to review sometimes. I’m glad that you like it though. I’m trying to post the pics on a website, but it depends if I can get my computer to let me in the site to work on it.
Koodles4you – Man, I hate when that happens. Well, I’m glad you were able to get through. Yeah, I love that line too.
Geometrygal – Yeah, ff.net has done that to me too, mostly due to the fact that my computer thought it was a pop-up and kept on blocking it. Then I had to tell it to allow the stupid pop-ups. Anyway, I’m glad you liked the chapter.
Akiki Iris – Yeah, I will eventually post the pics, but I need more first. Also, I need to get the site to let me on so I can update. Thanks for the review.
