Bandys placed 8 wrestlers in the 1A/2A Midwest Regionals held at West Lincoln
High School. Out of the 8 who placed, 4 went on to compete for a shot at a
State Championship title; Ray Farnsworth 103, Jordan Armstrong 119, Trent Mauney
145, and Brock Durfee HWT. Bandys placed 7th overall with 85 points, Newton
Conover won the day with 132 points.
At the NCHSAA Wresting State Championship 1000+ matches
took place over two days and 42 wrestlers remained standing as champions of their weight
class. Bandys Brock Durfee took 3rd place in the 1A/2A Heavyweight class. Congratulations
to Brock for working so hard and earning his title. Orange claimed the 1-A/2-A team tournament
championship, beating out a tough field that included Newton-Conover (second place;
the 2-A dual team champions), and defending champion Mount Pleasant (third place).
Jonathan Burns of Cardinal Gibbons won the state crown at 145 pounds and was
selected as the Most Outstanding Wrestler (MOW).
