Birth Information

The 1850 census has Henry listed with his parents, Benjamin and Charlotte Germany, and states Henry J. was born ~1828 in MS. The 1860 census, when he is with his own family, lists his birthplace as SC, but I think it unlikely that his parents moved from LA to SC to MS in the span between their marriage in 1827 and the birth of their second son, Joseph Matthew, in 1830 in MS. More likely, his wife reported incorrect information to the census taker.

Residence

Benjamin Germany appears in the 1840 census in Kemper County, MS, and based on the ages of the family members it seems that Henry J. (1 WM 10-15) is with him. The family appears in Neshoba County, MS for the 1850 census. Charlotte is listed as the head of household in 1860 in the same county but by that time Henry had married and started his own family.

Henry J. served in the MS 46th Infantry, Company I. He died in 1862, and I think it possible it may have been related to his military service.

Spouse/Children

I do not know when Henry married his wife, Sarah, but it must have been between the 1850 census, in which Henry appears with his father, and the birth of his first child around 1854. The 1860 federal census lists the following children for the couple: John, Benjamin, Sarah, and Joseph, all born in MS.

Death/Burial

Henry is buried in Beech Springs Memorial Cemetery in Neshoba County, MS. His death date was 22 May 1862. Based on the date of death, it is reasonable to think he died in the Civil War, but I have no proof of this yet.
