Project ID#: 685

Birth Information

Amanda Germany does not appear on any census records because she lived and died between census years. Evidence for her existence comes from a newspaper extract published in a book about Newton County newspaper items. It mentions that Amanda, 9 month-old daughter of B.C. and Huldah Germany, died August 25, 1872. This not only establishes her parentage but also gives her birth date as sometime around December 1871. (Original record: Newton Weekly Ledger for Aug. 29, 1872)

Residence

Amanda's obituary appears in a Newton County newspaper, but her family appeared in Neshoba County in Philadelphia for the 1870 census. I'm not sure where Amanda actually lived but at least it's clear she was in the Neshoba/Newton area. No tombstone record appears in either the Neshoba county cemetery book or the Newton county cemetery book.

Spouse/Children

none.

Census Records

None.

Death/Burial

Amanda died on August 25, 1872. Her burial place is unknown.
