Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Quigley’s Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. J. I. Clearman, 81, who died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Forrest General Hospital.
Rev. Q.C. Barrett and Rev. Ray Grissett will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. Clearman was a life-long resident of Forrest county and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. E.F. Bainter, 1001 West Fourth St.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bainter; two sons, W.D. Clearman, city; and R.H. Clearman, Falls Church, Va; two sisters: Mrs. J.L. McElreath, Ellisville; and Mrs. Lou Hammer, city; a brother, J.T. Giles, Glendale; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for J. I. Clearman, 73, who died at 1:20 p.m.. Monday at his home on RFD 3, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Quigley’s Funeral home chapel. The body will remain at the funeral home until time for the services.
Dr. John E. Barnes, jr. [sic], pastor of Main Street Baptist church, and Rev.. Q.C. Barrett, pastor of Green’s Creek Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral. Burial will follow in Glendale cemetery.
Mr. Clearman, resident of Forrest county, for 55 years, is survived by his wife; on daughter, Mrs. E.F. Bainter, Hattiesburg; four sons, Boatswain’s Mate First Class Floyd Clearman, serving aboard the USS Piedmont; Walter and W.D. Clearman of Hattiesburg, and Robert H. Clearman, Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Marvin Parker, Hattiesburg, Mrs. Virgie Freeman, Meridian, and Mrs. Bob Fancher, Miami, Fla; and one brother, M.T. Clearman, Sumrall.

Mrs. Frank Thames, who died after a short illness at the South Mississippi Infirmary Christmas Day at 3:30 o’clock, was buried in Roseland Park Cemetery Sunday, following the funeral services which were held from the Thames residence on Eighth street. Rev. J.E. Willis and Rev. D.A. Youngblood jointly took charge of the services. She was 26 year[s] of age.
Mrs. Thames is survived by her husband, T.F. Thames; six children, three girls and three boys, the girls: Frances 9 years old, Doris, 7 and Clemogene [Emogene] 5; the boys: Frank Thames, Jr., 3 years old, and two 10-day-old twins; by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. J.I. Clearmens [Clearman] of Richburg; one sister, Ethlyn Clearmens [Clearman] , Richburg; and four brothers, Floyd, Walter, Robert, and William Clearmens [Clearman], all of Richburg.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Ethlyn C. Bainter, 74, of Hattiesburg, who died Sunday at her residence.
Dr. Fred Selby and the Rev. Richard Miley will officiate. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery.
Mrs. Bainter, a native of Forrest County, was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. She was a retired legal secretaery [sic] for attornies [sic] Broadus and Smith.
Pallbearers will be Mike Clearman, Gene Clearman, Robert Clearman, J.C. Street, Tom Lambert and J.L. Pringle.
Survivors include her husband, Elmore F. Bainter Jr.; two sons, Jim Bainter of Hattiesburg and Bill Bainter of Columbus, Ga.; two grandchildren; a brother, Bill Clearman of Hattiesburg; and a niece, Mrs. Doris Wall of Hattiesburg.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Walter Clearman, owner of Clearman Dental Laboratory at the Medical Clinic on Hardy Street died at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Forrest General Hospital shortly after suffering a heart attack on the Mississippi Southern golf course.
Mr. Clearman was playing with Joe White, a Southern student. They were the only ones in the vicinity of No. 3 fairway when Clearman was stricken. White told Alex George, manager of the course, that Clearman complained about the heat after teeing off on No. 3.
As they walked up the fairway, Clearman suddenly fell to the ground. He could not talk. White moved him under a tree out of the sun and ran to the clubhouse for aid.
He and George returned to Clearman, who by that time could speak. He asked them to get his parked car and drive him to the hospital. In the meantime, J.C. Thrash, president of the club, J.T. Tucker, Roy Cooper and Arthur St. Amant had joined White and George and offered their assistance, but Clearman said he felt better and thought he would be all right. George and White drove him to the hospital.
Mr. Clearman was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and a deacon at Bay Street Presbyterian Church, a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion and Woodmen of the World. He was a lifetime resident of Hattiesburg. He lived at 1905 Hardy.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bay Street Presbyterian Church with Rev. R.D. Littleton officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, with Hulett Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife and his mother, Mrs. J.I. Clearman, both of Hattiesburg; two brothers, R.H., Washington, D.C., and W.D., Hattiesburg; and one sister, Mrs. E.F. Bainter, Hattiesburg.

Floyd Lee Clearman, RFD 3, died at the Veterans Hospital in Jackson at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, following an illness of three weeks.
Mr. Clearman retired from the Navy in 1953 after 30 years service. He was chief petty officer at the time of his retirement. He was at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese staged the surprise attack that caused the United States to enter World War II. He also served during the Korean conflict. Ships he served on include the U.S.S. Maryland, Phoenix and Piedmont.
A Mason, he was a member of the William H. Upton Lodge in Bremerton, Wash.
He was 52 years of age. Survivors include a son, Richard Lee Clearman of Seattle; his mother, Mrs. J.I. Clearman of RFD 3; a sister, Mrs. E.F. Bainter of Hattiesburg; three brothers, W.D. and Walter, both of Hattiesburg, and R.H. of Falls Church, VA.

M.T. (Mack) Clearman, 86, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday at his home in the Oral Community, RFD 3, Sumrall after a long illness.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bellevue Baptist Church with Rev. M.K. Lee and Rev. Howard Aultman officiating. Burial will be in Oral Cemetery with Hulett Funeral Home in charge.
The body will remain at the family home until 9 a.m. Saturday when it will be at the church until service time.
Mr. Clearman was a native of Newton county and had lived in Oral Community for 70 years. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. W.I. Drennan, Port Arthur, Tex; Mrs. H.S. Parker, Prentiss; three sons, B.T. Clearman and Herbert Clearman, both of Petal; and B.L. Clearman of RFD 3, Sumrall; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Parker, RFD 6; Mrs. Virge Freeman, Collinsville, Miss; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Quigley’s Funeral Home chapel for Robert Harold Clearman, 46, who died Sunday at his home in Dunn Loring, Va.
Dr. John E. Barnes and Rev. Larry Rohrman will officiate.
A service will be held Tuesday morning in Arlington, Va., and the body will arrive in Hattiesburg at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Clearman was employed for 25 years by the U.S. government in Washington.
Survivors include his widow, a daughter, Joan Clearman, a student at the University of Southern Mississippi; a son, Robert, of Dunn Loring; a sister, Mrs. E. F. Bainter, city; a brother, W.D. Clearman, city; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Services in Hattiesburg for Doris Clearman, 82, of Hattiesburg, who died Aug. 31, 2003, at Hattiesburg Convalescent Center.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Clearman was retired from the Hattiesburg American’s advertising department and was a member of Main Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clearman, and a son, Pat Clearman.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Clearman and Gene Clearman, both of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

I F.N. McMullan clerk of the Chancery Court in and for said county and State certify that the following is a true copy of the Will of W.L. Clearman Deceased, the proof thereof and the order of court thereon.

Newton County
In Chancery. Before the clerk in Vacation the 16th day of December 1892.
To the Hon. Chancery Court of the county of Newton, G.B. Harper and J.D. Clearman citizens of said county of Newton respectfully show unto your Honorable Court as follows.
That on the 18th day of October AD 1892, Wm. L. Clearman late of said county departed this life leaving a last Will and testament duly signed attested and published as your petitioners believe and which said last Will and Testament they herewith present to your Hon. Court for probate[.] That said Will is subscribed by S[.]B[.] Gilbert and W.J. Daniel as Witnesses to the signature and publication thereof both of whom as your petitioners know reside in said county of Newton.
That said testator nominated and appointed your petitioners G[.]B[.] Harper and J.D. Clearman Executors of his said Will and that your petitioners moved by a desire of meeting and fulfilling the wishes of their said testator are willing jointly to accept and undertake the office and trust confided therein.
Petitioners further show that the said W.L. Clearman died seized and possessed of only a small real and personal estate of the aggregate value of $2100.00 and that in his said Will he made express provisions that his executors should execute no bond or make any report of their actions in the premises to the Court. And that no appraisement be made of his personal Estate. Your petitioners herewith submit the affidavits of S.B. Gilbert and W[.]J[.] Daniel subscribing witnesses as aforesaid and prays that probate of said Will may be granted and said Will be recorded. And that letters testamentary be granted to patinas upon their taking the Oath prescribed by law, and that they be not required to give bond or make report to the Court and that no Warrant issue to appraise to and as in duty bound.

In the name of God Amen. I William L. Clearman being of sound memory, mind, and understanding, but old and infirm in body do make publish and declare this my last Will and testament in form following to wit: revoking all other Wills heretofore made before(?) me. 1st I give my body to the dust and my soul to God who gave it and my property on worldly Estate I dispose of as follows. 2nd I will and direct that all my just debts, legal liabilities and funeral expenses be paid out of such effects or personal property as there may be on hand at my death. 3rd I give and bequeath to my Wife Martha Clearman the following described land to wit: The N1/2 of SW1/4 and NW1/4 of SE1/4 of Section 36 Township 7 Range 13 East, containing 120 acres more or less, to have and hold during her natural life in the event she survives me, the above described land at her death to be sold and the proceeds equally divided with my other heirs except One [sic] share to be allowed to Francis Carpenter wife of Ben Carpenter. I also direct that my Wife have 1 Horse 2 cows, and calves some stock hogs, all the tools that may be necessary for One hand, the household and kitchen furniture. 4th I will and direct after my death that my estate both real and personal shall be sold by my Executors and the proceeds equally divided among my legal heirs, share and share alike Except my Daughter Hannah Susan, I give and bequeath first out of the whole amount the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200) being in lieu of property heretofore given my other children. The interest of Hannah Susan to be paid over to who may take and care for her with their obligation to use it for her use and benefit. 5th I nominate and appoint G.B. Harper and J.D. Clearman my Executors of this my last Will and testament and empower them & direct them after my death to take charge, of all my Notes, Money accounts and other affects, collect them and pay all my debts sell the the [sic] property, and dispose of the proceeds in accordance with the above requirements and I hereby direct and request that they not be required to give any bond as such executors (I having full faith and confidence in their skill and integrity) or that any writ of appraisement issue or any further reporting after this my last Will and testament has been set up and prvd. to any court whatever, and I further will and direct that my Executors be allowed and paid the sum of Two Dollars each per day for this services ____ up and settling my estate.

In the matter of a certain instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of W.L. Clearman decd. of Newton County: Personally appeared before me F.N. McMullan Clerk of the Chancery Court in and for said county S.B. Gilbert and W.J. Daniel subscribing witnesses to a certain instrument of writing purporting to be the last Will and testament of W.L. Clearman decease(?) late of Newton County who having first been duly sworn deposed and said that the said W.L. Clearman signed published and declared said instrument as his last will and testament on the 9th day of April 1890, the day of the date of said instrument in the presence of the deponents and that the said testator was then of sound mind and memory and more than twenty one years of age and that these deponents subscribed and attested said instrument as witnesses to the signature and publication thereof at the special instance and in the presence of the said testator and in the presence of each other on the day and year of the date there of.

In the matter of the probate of the last will of Wm L. Clearman deceased. Upon reading and filing the joint petition of GB Harper and J.D. Clearman for probate of a certain instrument of writing purporting and alleged to be the last Will and testament of Wm. L. Clearman decd[.] late of Newton County Mississippi and for letters testamentary thereupon and reading the affidavits of S.B. Gilbert and W.J. Daniel subscribing witnesses thereto the clerk after hearing all and singular(?) the proof and obligations addressed and fully considering the same and being satisfied that said instrument is fully established as the original last Will and testament of the said Wm L. Clearman and that he was on the 9th day of April 1890 the day of the date of said last will of lawful age to devise(?) and of sound & disposing mind and memory. It is thereupon ordered adjudged and decreed that said instrument of writing be admitted to probate and recorded as the last will & testament of the said Wm. L. Clearman deceased and it appearing that no bond is required to be given by the terms of said Will and the said G.B. Harper and J[.]D[.] Clearman appointed as Executors thereof having approved & taken the Oath as prescribed by law to faithfully execute said Will. It is further ordered that letters testamentary issue to the said G.B. Harper and J[.]D[.] Clearman as joint Executors and that no warrant to appraisers issue.
