John B. Germany, age 79 years, dropped dead of a heart attack at his home Sunday morning, June 19th. He had been suffering with a heart ailment for the past few years.
Mr. Germany was a life-long resident of Newton County, was a member of the Camp Ground Methodist Church and an active Mason, and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was never married.
Surviving relatives are: Two brothers, I.W. Germany of Union and Dr. Henry Germany, of Waco, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Ellen Tidwell, of Neshoba, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Final rites were held Monday, June 20th, at 2:30 P.M., from Camp Ground Church, with Rev. A.M. O’Neil officiating, assisted by Rev. Govie Gordon. Active pall bearers were: E.V. Adams, R.L., Reid, David Gardner, L. McDill, H.Y. Walker, and Norman Sistrunk. Interment was in Camp Ground cemetery. Union Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Claricie Germany, age 87 died at her home in the Southern part of this county near Beat Springs on last Friday. She had been in splendid health until a short time before her death. She was a member of the Methodist church and was a splendid Christian woman, who was well known throughout this section and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She had lived in that section of the county throughout her life, [sic] at the time of her death one of her sons was living with her.
She had the distinction of probably having more livingdescendants[sic] than any other resident of rthis section.
She leaves eight children, 48 grandchildren, 44 great-grand-children, and eight great-great-grand-children. She was preceded to the grave by her husband and three children.
The funeral was conducted at Beat Sprigns cemetery by Rev. J.L. Carter, of Union, at 2 P.M. Saturday afternoon. A large number gathered to pay their last respects to this splendid Christian woman.

James William Germany died at his residence in Meadeville [sic], Miss, March 11, 1949, being seventy-two years of age. He was born and reared here in Union, but was residing Meadville [sic] at the time of his death.
Funeral services were conducted from New Ireland Baptist church, on March 14, 1949 at 10:00 A.M. The officiating minister, Rev. Montague of Laurel, was assisted by Rev. Coulter and Rev. Hill. Interment was in New Ireland cemetery with the following serving as pall-bearers: Guy Germany, Oba Germany, Kent Germany, Virgil Case, Monroe Germany, and Alva Matthews.
Mr. Germany is survived by his wife, Ella Germany, two sons, Otis and Reagan; one brother, Mack; two sisters, Mrs. H.C. Staton, and Miss Lottie Germany; seven grand children and one great grandchild.
He has been affiliated with the Church of God since 1945.

George Germany, of near Union, an old and highly respected citizen died at his home Wednesday, January 13. Death came suddenly. While it was known that he was in poor health, his death was a great surprise to his many friends.
He was on eof an old and highly esteemed family, who are well known over Newton and Neshoba Counties. There is only one member of this family, William Germany, now living, but there are several children to mourn his loss.
To his widow and bereaved relatives The Appeal extends its sympathy.

We wish to express our thanks and appreciation to our many friends for their kindness and untiring efforts in the death and burial of our dear husband and after who we miss so much and for the many kind and comforting words spoken by Revs. O.I. Plunkett, S.M. Hillman, C.E. Bright and our many friends which means so much to us in time of sorrow.
We especially wish to express our thanks and appreciation to Uncle George Hays for his faithful service in making the casket, which was so nice.
The many beautiful flowers were highly appreciated by each of us.

George Washington Germany was born August 23, 1857 in Neshoba County, Miss. Was united in marriage Jan. 2, 1879 to Lottie A. Vance. To this union was born 14 children; 12 boys and 2 girls, five having preceded him to the great beyond, 4 boys and 1 girl.
The family alter was erected in the beginning off their married life, having instilled the habit of prayer in the life of each child before our earliest memories. He diligently taught us obedience to the principles of right by the use of the open Bible, stressing honesty, truthfulness and respect to the personal rights of others.
He departed this life Wednesday, 11:30 A.M., January 13, 1932, at the old homestead where he was born and reared, having spent his entire life.
He leaves to mourn our loss, a wife, 9 children, 27 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 5 grandchildren having preceeded [sic] him.
He leaves one brother, of Union, Miss., two sisters, one of Mount Olive, Miss., and one of Chicago, Ill. and a host of relatives and friends.
The children are J.E., H.M., Rev. W.P., W.A. Germany, and Mrs. J.G. Gordon, of Union, Miss., J.C. Germany of Wichita, Kan., T.B. Germany, of Palco, Kan., and Rev. R.A. Germany of Gordon, Nebraska. The latter was unable to be here on account of illness. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. O.I. Plunkett, Assisted by Rev. S.M. Hillman of Ellisville, and Rev. C.E. Bright of Wichita, Kansas, pastor of the congregation where Jeff C. Germany attends service.

Mr. H.C. Germany, familiarly known as “Cob” Germany, died very suddenly at his home a few miles west of town Saturday, June 11. He was up until nearly 10 o’clock, when he went into a side room, as was his custom, and laid down to take a nap. When the dinner hour arrived his wife told one member of the family to wake him for dinner, and behold he was dead!
He was found on the bed, still warm, with his hat on the side of his head. He must have died without a struggle.
Mr. Germany was one of our best citizens and had many friends who mourn his demise. Hew as seventy some odd years of age and was a soldier in the Civil War. He carried the frost of his many winters with kindness and much respect for his fellow man, and will be sadly missed by his relatives and many friends.
Interment took place at the New Ireland Cemetery Sunday, when a very large crowd assembled to pay respect to his memory. Rev. W.L. Collins conducted the funeral service.
The appeal renders its sympathy to the widow and bereaved relatives.

Mr. Irvin Germany, age 59 years, died suddenly Monday, July 6, at the shop of Will Germany, which is located near his home, about 5 miles west of Union.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8, 2 P.M., at his home, conducted by Rev. R.B. Gill. Interment was made at Evans Tabernacle Cemetery.
Mr. Germany is survived by his wife, two brothers, William Germany of Philadelphia, and Dr. Henry Germany of Waco, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Laura Tidwell, Union Rt. 1, and a number of other relatives.

Mr. J.B. Germany, for many years a valued citizen of Newton County, but of recent years of Walnut Grove, died at his home Sunday, Dec. 16, aged about 71 years.
Uncle Ben, as he was familiarly called, always met his friends with a smile and was one of the most pleasant men to be with.
The remains of this excellent man were brought back to New Ireland for burial;. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.L. Collins of Meridian. He leaves a widow and a number of relatives to whom The Appeal extends its sympathy.

Just as we go to press, Jim H. Germany aged 85, died here at his home Thursday, May 22, after an illness of a few months.
Mr. Germany had recently erected a nice home in town where he and wife were living. In his death there is removed form us one more Confederate soldier who had many friends among the old and young. He would meet you with a hearty hand shake and smile.
Mr. Germany was the father of Mrs. H.C. Staton and several other children. He leaves an aged widow to mourn her loss, to whom The Appeal extends its sympathy.

Funeral rites were held on Wednesday Jan. 4th., at 10A.M. from the Neshoba Baptist Church. Revs. Bob Posey, Huston Inman, W.E. Butler and H.R. Herrington conducted the last rites.
She was born in Newton County and the widow of the late Albert Walker Tidwell, who died Nov. 20, 1927, and was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church.
Interment took place in the Neshoba Cemetery with the following serving as pall bearers: Lamar Tidwell, Dinson Henry, Luther Barrett, Jessie Pilgrim, Eugene Martin and Myrneil Martin.
One son and two daughters survive: Eugene Tidwell, Rt. 1, Unioon; Miss Velma Tidwell of Rt. 1, Union and Mrs. Raiford Martin of Bentonia, Miss., with whom she made her home. Onne brother Dr. H.J. Germany of Waco, Texas also survives.
McClain Hays of Philadelphia had charge of the service.

Mr. Germany, age 76, of Union, died Feb. 24 at Laird Hospital. He was a carpenter and a member of Bluff Springs church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Obera Germany of Union; 2 daughters, Charlotte Evans of Clinton and Diann Nicholson of Philadelphia; brothers Mr. Byrum Germany of Greenfield, MO; Mr. Harold Germany of Union; sister Mrs. Mildred Matthews of Union; 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Allen Boler, Phillip Dupree, Otto Rouse, Clyde Germany, James Skelton, John Arnold and Danny Germany.
Stephens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were held for Rev. Reagan T. Germany January 10 from Bluff Springs Church of God. Rev. Raymond Cheek and Rev. Ken Lynch officiated at the 2:00 p.m. service with interment in New Ireland Cemetery.
Rev. Germany, age 83, of Philadelphia, died January 8 at Leake Memorial Hospital. Hew was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include his son, Doyle Germany of Pascagoula; 2 daughters, Tommy Arnold of Madison and Elevlin Holesomback of Morton; 1 brother, Otis Germany of Natchez, 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

I, Charles C. Germany of the County of Wilkinson, State of Mississippi, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, revoking any and all other wills and testamentry dispositions by me heretofore made.
First.
After the payment of all mi [sic] just debts and funeral expenses, I give and bequeath to my son James N. Germany, One brown horse mule, and One bay mare mule owned by me, but no in the possession of the said J.N. Germany. Also two ninths of undivided interest in the lands belonging to the estate of my father the late Robert Germany, deceased, and yet unsold, and whereas my said son James in indebted to me in a large sum of money, I do hereby direct that said indebtedness, shall immediately after my death, be cancelled by my executrix. It being my desire and intention to hereby discharge my said son, his heirs, executors and administrators fromt he payment of said indebtedness.
Second.
I give and devise unto my grand children, Mary Martha Germany, George McGehee Germany and Charles C. Germany the children of my son Jas N. Germany, the following lands towit [sic]: The S.W. 1/4 and 20 acres on the west side of S.E. 1/4 of Section No 1, Township 1, Range 2, and all of S.E. 1/4 of Sect No 2, T 1, R 2 in Amite County Misspi [sic]; My daughter inlaw Hannie Germany the wife of said J.N. Germany and mother of said grand children, to manage and control said lands and use the rents and profits of the same as she may think best for the welfare of said children, until they shall become of age or marry, and upon the marrying of [sic] coming of age of each of said children, both the title and right to possession and control of his or her respective interest in said land shall vest at once in such child. It being my will that said lands shall be divided equally between said grand children here in mentioned, share and share alike. Provided, that in case there should be born unto my said son J.N. Germany other children or child by his wife Hannie (or a subsequent wife in case of Hannies [sic] death,) before either of the above named grand children marry or become age; then said property shall be equally divided between all of said children.
Third.
I give and devise unto my wife Sarah E. Germany for and during her natural life, the following lands situated in S.W. 1/4 of Sect. 37, Township 2, Range 2 east in Amite County Mississippi, commencing at Alfred Germany,s [sic] N East corner on the public road leading from Centreville to Liberty, and running thence with said Germanys line S 9-40/100 chains to the southern boundary of Township 2 Range 2 east thence east along said line 8-50/100 chains, thence north 10 chains to the public road, thence west along said road 8-50/100 chains to place of beginning, and containing 8-25/100 acres more or less. all in the State of Mississippi, and at the death of my wife Sarah E. Germany, said lands to descend equally to my said grand children mentioned in the second provision of this Will, and in the manner and under the same management and provisos as are there in given regarding the other lands devised in said section.
Fourth.
The balance of my property both real and personal I doth give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah E. Germany and I doth hereby nominate and appoint my wife Sarah E. Germany executrix of this my last will, and require of her no bond or security.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 22nd day of July 19[sic] 1892.
