Mrs. Mary Josephine Giles, 80 years old, pioneer resident of Richburg, died at her home there this morning at 7:20 o'clock. She was the widow of S.W. Giles.
Mrs. Giles is survived by two sons, R.D. Giles of Hattiesburg, and J.T. Giles of Richburg, and four daughters, Mrs. J. D. Clearman of Richburg, Mrs. E.M. Hammer and Mrs. W.M. Boyd of Dallas and Mrs. J.L. McElreath of Ellisville, and a brother D.B. Thames, of Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at the Hickory Grove Baptist Chruch tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. A.L. O'Briant officiating. Interment will be in Hickory Grove cemetery. Burial will be under the supervision of the Hulett Undertaking company.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Quigley’s Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. J. I. Clearman, 81, who died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Forrest General Hospital.
Rev. Q.C. Barrett and Rev. Ray Grissett will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. Clearman was a life-long resident of Forrest county and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. E.F. Bainter, 1001 West Fourth St.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bainter; two sons, W.D. Clearman, city; and R.H. Clearman, Falls Church, Va; two sisters: Mrs. J.L. McElreath, Ellisville; and Mrs. Lou Hammer, city; a brother, J.T. Giles, Glendale; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Bess Hamilton Giles, 92, of Hattiesburg who died Saturday at Conva-Rest Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
The Rev. Billy Mitchell, Dr. Clifford Estes and Ronnie Louviere will officiate, with interment in Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. Giles was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, who was active in all phases of church life. She served as church treasurer and a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the W.M.U.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Katherine Smith of Hattiesburg, Mrs. Margaret Odum of Slidell, La., and Mrs. Minnie Sara Crawford of Biloxi; one son, Olen T. Giles of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

James Thomas Giles, 76, died at 10 a.m. today at Methodist Hospital after a brief illness. He was a retired carpenter and an active member of Glendale Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Glendale Baptist Church, with Rev. W.B. Wall officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Mr. Giles’ body will remain at Quigley’s Funeral Home until time for services.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bess Giles of Glendale; three daughters, Mrs. Johnny Odom of Hattiesburg, Mrs. W.S. Smith and Mrs. Minnie Lindsey, both of New Orleans; a number of nieces and nephews and several grandchildren.

Mrs. E.M. Hammer, 67, of Dallas, Tex, died Thursday night at the Columbia Convalescent Home, where she had been a patient for several years.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Quigley’s Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. Hammer is survived by a sister, Mrs. J.L. McElreath of Ellisville; a brother, J.T. Giles of Glendale; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Steven Walter Giles, for many years a beloved citizen of Hattiesburg, having moved a few years ago to Richton, died yesterday at 11 a.m. at his home at Richton, after a year or more of suffering from a complication of ailments. He was 82 years old and is survived by his wife, tow sons, R.I., of Hattiesburg, and J.T. Giles, of Richton; four daughters, Mrs. J.L. McElreath, Ellisville; Mrs. J.A. Boyd of Jackson; Mrs. J.L. Clearman, Richburg; and Miss Lula Giles, of Dallas, Texas. The interment was made at the Hickory Grove cemetery this afternoon and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.E. Fail, he and the deceased being Confederate veterans. In the death of Mr. Giles his many friends can truthfully say, “a good man is gone.”

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Hulett Chapel for Stephen W. (Speck) Giles, 64, of 537 West Fourth St. Who died early today at Methodist Hospital. Dr. John E. Barnes, Jr. Will officiate. Burial will be in Roseland Park Cemetery.
Mr. Giles was a lifelong resident of Forrest County. He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pauline Moore Giles; one daughter, Mrs. John T. Mims of Hattiesburg; two sons, Stephen Jerry Giles and Dr. William Giles of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren, seven sisters, Mrs. J.L. Harper, Sr., of Hattiesburg; Mrs. H.L. Burnside of Jackson, Mrs. John Frantuono of Hattiesburg, Mrs. Marie Doss of Tallhasse [sic], Mrs. W.F. Shoemake of Hattiesburg, Mrs. J.V. Johnston of Hattiesburg and Mrs. Marge Helmick of Lakeland, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

WILLIAM L. GILES
William L. Giles, 59, of 2000 Mamie st. [sic], died at 6 a.m. today in the Methodist hospital following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hulett Funeral chapel, with Rev. E. Gaines Hightower officiating.
Mr. Giles, a veteran of World War I, had been a resident of Hattiesburg for the past 40 years[.] He was chief mechanic and shop foreman of the State Highway department shop.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Billie Jean Giles; three brothers, Thomas L. Giles of McHenry, R.J. Giles of Hattiesburg, and Lavert Giles of Los Angeles, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. B.C. Rawls and Miss Beatrice Giles, both of Hattiesburg, Mrs. W.M. Wood of New Orleans and Mrs. J.O. Cameron of Pensacola, Fla.

Services will be held at 2 pm. Friday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Lula Giles Cameron, of 620 South 28th Ave., who died Wednesday mlorning at her home.
The Rev. Billy Barber will officiate with burial following in Roseland Park Cemetery.
A native of Sanford, Mrs. Cameron, who had lived in Tampa, Fla., for 25 years before moving to Hattiesburg. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Tampa Garden Club, Tampa Rose Society, Tampa Executive Club, and the Salvation Army board in Tampa.
Survivors are her husband, J.O. Cameron; two sisters, Mrs. M. Brunson and Mrs. Mary E. Rawls, both of Hattiesburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.

Know all men by these Presents, That whereas We S.W. Giles & M.J. Giles are indebted to John Husbands in the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for money advanced by him to enable us to carry on our business in Perry County, Mississippi, for the year 1899, which is evidenced by our promissory note for Two Hundred Dollars bearing even date herewith, and due to John Husbands or bearer on the 1st day of December 1900: Now therefore to secure the prompt payment of our entire indebtedness to the said John Husbands on the 1st day of Dec. 1900, and in consideration of One Dollar to us in hand paid by W.A. McLeod the receipt of which we hereby acknowledge, we do by these presents bargain, sell and convey unto the said W.A. McLeod as Trustee, and in trust, the following described property now owned by us free from all incumbrances to with: The N.W. 1/4 of Section 18, Township 5 N, Range 14 West.
And we do hereby waive and relinquish every right of exemption under the Statute law of the State of Mississippi until our entire indebtedness to the said John Husbands is paid; and should we fail or refuse to pay said note at the date of the maturity thereof then it shall be lawful for the said W.A. McLeod, Trustee herein named to seize and sell the property hereby transferred for cash, after giving notice for ten days of the time and place of said sale, and shall apply the proceeds of the sale to the payment of said debt, and the cost of executing this trust rendering the overplus, if any, to us or our legal representative; and if the said Trustee herein named shall, from any cause, fail or refuse to act , then the said John Husbands, his heirs, executors, administrators, or assigns, are hereby authorized to appoint another Trustee who shall be vested with the same authority that said W.A. McLeod is hereby clothed (?) with; and should said Trustee at any time believe said property or any part, [sic] thereof, endangered as a security for the payment of said note, he shall take the same into his possession and hold the same until said payment is made or till said property is sold as aforesaid; but until demanded by the Trustee for either of the purposes aforesaid, we can hold the same.

Whereas we S.W. and M.J. Giles are justly indebted to R. Young in the sum of three hundred and fifty
dollars ($350.00) as evidenced by our promissory note of even date herewith for $350.00, said note bearing
interest at the rate of 10% per annum, due November 1st, 1900 said note providing for the payment of a
reasonable attorney’s fee for collecting same if not paid at maturity and is collected by an attorney; and we,
the said S.W. and M.J. Giles, desiring to secure the prompt payment of said indebtedness at maturity, and
to indemnify the R. Young against the payment of any taxes, insurance or other charge of incumbrance
against the property hereinafter conveyed as hereinafter provided, therefore we, the said S.W. and M.J.
Giles, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey and warrant to S.E. Travis as trustee the following described
real estate situated in the County of Perry, State of Mississippi, to wit:
The East 1/2 of the E 1/2 of the SW 1/4 and the E 1/2 of SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 32, Tp 5 N,
Range 13 W, County of Perry and State of Mississippi.
It is also understood and agreed that the said S.W. and M.J. Giles are to transfer to the said R. Young as further security a certain deed of trust on the property described as the W 1/2 of the E1/2 of the SW 1/4 and the W 1/2 of the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 32 Pt 5 N. Range 13 W, County of Perry, State of Mississippi, from T.A. Cahal as soon as said deed of trust is received by said S.W. Giles and M.J. Giles.
And we, the said S.W. and M.J. Giles do hereby covenant to and with the said R. Young and the said trustee that we will pay all taxes accrued and to accrue against said property until the payment of said debt, and will pay off and discharge any and all incumbrances of whatever kind or description against said property and will keep the buildings located thereon and to be erected thereon insured in a sum of not less than $300.00, the policy of insurance to be made payable to the said R. Young, as his interest may appear, and the same is hereby deposited with him as collateral security for the payment of said debt.
It is further understood and agreed that if default is made in the payment of taxes or insurance, or in the payment of any other charge or incumbrance against said property, the said R. Young, assigns, or legal representatives may pay off and discharge the same and any sum or sums of money paid out therefor shall be and is hereby made a part of the debt hereby secured and we the said S.W. and M.J. Giles hereby fully authorize said trustee or any successive trustee on our failure to pay said taxes at maturity or as they mature, or to effect and maintain insurance as hereinbefore provided or to pay off and discharge any other incumbrance against said property at maturity (including the debt hereby secured) to sell the said property hereby conveyed at public outcry to the highest bidder for cash after giving ten days notice of the terms, time and place of sale by posting notices of such terms, time and place for the time aforesaid in three or more public places in the said County of Perry, said sale to be made at the front of the Courthouse in the City of Hattiesburg, and out of the proceeds of which the trustee shall pay the indebtedness hereby secured and interest, the costs of executing the trust and sale, and any and all other sums of money paid out on account of said taxes, insurance or other charge or incumbrance against said property as aforesaid.
It is further agreed that the said R. Young, assigns[,] or legal representatives may at any deemed best appoint by written endorsement hereon another and successive trustees instead of the one herein named who shall have the same powers of sale conferred on the one hereby appointed.

Know all men by these Presents; That whereas, S.W. Giles is indebted to Fannie Husband in the sum of Two Hundred Dollars for money and supplies advanced by her to enable me to carry on my farm in Perry County, Mississippi, for the year 1901, which is evidenced by my promissory note for Two hundred Dollars bearing even date herewith, and due to Fannie Husband or bearer on the 16 day of Nov. 1901 , with 10% and whereas, I expect to buy other supplies and get other moneys from the said F. Husband during the year which by agreement are to be charged against me on open account and to constitute a lien on my entire property therein conveyed: Now therefore, to secure the prompt payment of my entire indebtedness to the said Fannie Husband on the 16 day of Nov. 1901 and in consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by S.E. Travis, the receipt of which I hereby acknowledge, I do by these presents bargain, sell and convey unto the said S.E. Travis as Trustee, and in trust the following described property now owned by me, free from all incumbrances, to wit:
East half of East half of South west fourth and East half of South East fourth of North West fourth Section thirty-two Township five N. Range 13 West. All in 2d District, Perry County, Miss. and the following agricultural products now growing and to be grown by me on my farm in Perry County, Mississippi: the year 1901, to wit: My entire crop of cotton, corn and any other agricultural products grown by me or under my control.
And I do hereby waive and relinquish every right of exemption under the statute law of the State of Mississippi, until all entire indebtedness to the said F[.] Husband either by note or open account is paid; and should I fail or refuse to pay said note, and whatever open account my [sic] may have made for the purpose aforesaid, at the date of the maturity of the note, then it shall be lawful for the said S.E.
