Know all men by these presents that we Sarah J. Hughs and David Hughs her husband & Addie A. Hughes and Wm A. Hughes her husband, all of the County of Leake State of Mississippi being heirs at Law of the Estate of John Land late of Amite County in said State of Mississippi, now deceased in right of the said Sarah H. Hughes & Addie A. Hughes who are daughters of John Germany late of Neshoba County said State of Mississippi, now deceased who was a brother of Elizabeth Land dau late of said Amite County deceased who was mother of the said John Land deceased the said Sarah J. & Addie Hughs being cousins of the said John Land deceased and heirs & distributees of his Estate, the said John Land having died leaving no heirs surviving nearer a kin than that of cousins or ____ in the 4th degree - and having full confidence in our brother Willis Germany of Amite County in Mississippi (have constituted and appointed and do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint the said Willis Germany to be our lawful attorney for us and in our stead & name to receive any and all monies that is now or hereafter may be coming to us or either or any of us from the Estate of the said John Land deceased in the hands of his _________ or in whose hands so ever the same may be found and to receive and receipt for the same as fully to all intents & purposes as we ourselves could do if personally present acting for ourselves, and if necessary employ counsil [sic], sign hands in any matter necessary or required in suits or other proceedings in and about the premises and to act in all matters for us to the fullest extent for the purpose of obtaining for us our distributive part of the Estate of the said John Land deceased and to give refunding bonds and signs our names therein if necessary - Hereby fully ratifying all the acts of our said attorney same in & about the premises. Witness our hands & seals this 25th day of April AD 1866 Sarah J[.] Hughs (seal) David Hughs (seal) Addie A[.] Hugs (seal) W[.] A[.] Hughs (seal) The State of Mississippi Leake County Personally before me the undersigned Justice of the Peace within & for the County & State aforesaid appeared Sarah J[.] Hughs, David Hughs, Addie [A.} Hughs & William A[.] Hughs who severally acknowledged that they did sign seal & deliver therefore going Power of Attorney for the purpose therein specified as their voluntary act and Deed, And the said Sarah J[.] Hughs & Addie A[.] Hughs on a private examination separate from their said husbands after the same was fully explained within then & there acknowledged that they did sign seal & deliver said Power of Attorney as their voluntary act and deed without fear threats or compulsion of their said husbands and that they are still satisfied with the same. Witness my hand and seal officially at Leake County State of Mississippi this 25th day of April A.D. 1866 James Hanna (seal) Justice of the Peace The State of Mississippi Leake County I the undersigned Clerk of the Probate Court of said County do hereby certify that the within named James Hanna whose true official signiture [sic] appears to the foregoing acknowledgement of a Power of Attorney to well and Personally known to me and that he is an acting Justice of the Peace in and for the County and State aforesaid, and that he is duly and legally qualified and commissioned as such and is entitled to full faith and credit in all his official acts as such Given under my hand and seal of Office at Carthage this 26th Day of April AD 1866 John B. _____ clerk The foregoing Power of Attorney is stained with $50/100 month of US revenue stamps and cancelled.
