Newspaper Annoucement of Clearman/Thames Wedding

Wedding Bells Ring for Young Couple after Much Delay
Frank Thames and Miss Clairmon Finally Gain Consent of Parents

Married: Mr. Frank Thames and Miss Mae Clairmon of Richburg, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock by the Rev. John T. Christian at the parsonage of the First Baptist Church.

This announcement today will be received with interest by the public in general which has been watching the courtship of the couple which on two or three former occasions came near resulting in marriage.

Some weeks ago young Thames, who is employed at the Meridian Fertilizer plant here, went to the court house and obtained a marriage license to wed Miss Clairmon. Circuit Court Clerk Mixon became suspicious of the youth's age, but he insisted that he was 21 and that the girl of his choice was more than 18.

The ink on the marriage license blotter had scarcely gotten dry before protests by the parents of the young man and the young woman began coming in. they stated that neither was of age.

Thames later returned the license to the clerk's office but said that another would be asked for before many more moons. In the meantime the couple began arguing and pleading with their respective parents. The result was, the consent necessary was obtained.

They are going honeymooning sometime this week.
