Incendiaries
According
to Jules Bebie in his book "Manual of Explosives, Military
Pyrotechnics and Chemical Warfare Agents" incendiaries
are defined as "Chemical agents which cause ignition of
combustible substances by flame or generation of heat..."(36).
Some individuals say that these are not true chemical weapons,
because they do not act as toxins. However they will be treated
here because they are chemicals which have been weaponized.
For the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts the two major incendiaries
used where White Phosphorous(WP) and Napalm.
Both were used to destroy enemy structures as well as enemy
personal.
In both Korea and Vietnam WP found use in smoke and antipersonal
gernades (38). It was also used as
an ignitor in naplam bombs.
Napalms use in both conflicts consisted of being employed in
bombs and flame throwers to clear jungle and villages alike.(38)
