Don's Stuff - Random Ramblings

This is a blog about little old me. I am 34 years old as I write this. I work in the retail side of the home improvement industry. I have several college degrees most notably Computer Science and Mathematics. I can juggle and I tend to do quite a bit of theatre work when I have free time. You can find out more about me on my website.

The station has arrived...

Well, the worst happened. My Dad was pronounced dead at 12:40am on the 24th. I was on the phone with him when he went. I took a gamble that I had another day and didn't quite make it but I was as close as I could have been. It's been a long night- I left Apple Valley by 1am and got here around 4am or so. They had the funeral home leave my Dad here until I had a chance to get here. I managed to say my goodbyes to him. It came from no where. But that's the way things go. My brother and I had just got off the phone with each other and my Mom had handed the phone to my Dad. I managed to say a few words to him but nothing major. He got silent and I had thought he just fell asleep but the next thing I heard was my Mom scream and then everything became a jumble. I ended up on the phone with my brother at the end. I quickly got off so the could call the hospice and have them do whatever they could. So I might not have been there but I was as close as I could have been at the moment. My Dad had just told me that he was doing okay and that he wasn't in pain and then nothing.... That's how thing ended. It was a long drive - I'm at my parents house now- but it was a good drive. I had a lot of time to think and I managed to relax quite a bit and think a lot. It was good. But for now I'm going off to try to take a nap. I'm sorry to anyone that has tried to get in touch with me that I might be missing. Aaron I'm also sorry I haven't had a chance to get in touch with you. I haven't been around a whole lot to talk to anyone. Hopefully I'll get around to it soon but probably not over the next day or so.
