Dracula: A Musical Nightmare

This name is as fitting name for the show as it was for my experience working on it. It was my first major set design and only my second or third major lighting design. I also took on the role of scene shop foreman (basically a tech. director). Overall I think it turned out well but I was more nervous about opening night than any of the actors - most of whom helped construct the set. Of the things I enjoyed were lighting a night graveyard scene and also building a large coffin. I have to say that Dracula was the biggest learning experience I've ever gone through. My one piece of advice to any person beginning in theatre is to never take on too much. You have to balance your desire for experience with what your experience will actually allow you to handle.
