Fact File
* The movie is based on a book entitled "Gone to Texas" by Forrest Carter.
* There is a sequel, "The Return of Josey Wales", which does not have Clint Eastwood in it. (Although I have not seen it, I will assure you that it sucks).
* 56 people are killed in the movie, second of Clint Eastwood's movies to the 65 in "Where Eagles Dare"
Josey's Guns
* Josey's main guns are Colt Walkers, the magnum handgun of the day. These would have likely been captured from a Union cavalryman.
* His two backups, carried in shoulder holsters, appear to be Colt Navies.
* His rifle, only used twice, during the "Missouri Boat Ride" and "Comancheros" scenes, is some type of Sharps with a telescopic sight, which would have been the sniper rifle of the time.
Quotes from the film* "Well Mr. Carpetbagger...we got something in this territory, called a Missouri boatride."
* "Are you gonna pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?"
* Buzzards got to eat, same as worms.
* How is it on stains?
* {Chief} How did you know which one to shoot first?
{Josey} Well the second one on the right, he had scared eyes, he wasn't going to draw first. The one on the left had a flap holster, and he wasn't in any hurry. Now the second one on the left, he had crazy eyes.
{Chief} What about the one on the right?
{Josey} I never paid him no mind. You were there, weren't you?
* Josey Wales, Mister chain blue lightnin'.
* Endeavor to perservere.
* {Josey} You a bounty hunter?
{Bounty Hunter} A man's got to do something for a living these days.
{Josey} Dying ain't much of a living, boy.
