Paul Washer Matthew 7:13-27 Shocking Youth Message Stuns Hearers
So Shocking & Biblical

Questions to ask yourself as you watch and listen to the video clip below: (1) At Gethsemane, why did Christ plead with God the Father to have the cup pass away from Him? (ref Mt 26:39) What was He fearful of?
Over the many years of the Roman Empire, thousands similarly suffered terribly and were crucified by the Romans. Christ's crucifixion was not unique.
(2) What act did Jesus Christ have to perform to EARN humanity's salvation?
Rejection by the Jewish nation (Pharisees, Sadducees, and Sanhedrin), scourging, crown of thorns, ridicule, nailed to a tree (cross), spearing? Think about it! Admittedly, Jesus did many things which fulfilled the messianic prophesies.
(3) But are these outward signs what has EARNED our salvation? I say NOT!
There is much more beneath the surface of Good Friday. Clues to the answer lie in most books of the Bible, especially in the Old Testament.
Paul Washer tells us the (hidden) truth...

Paul Washer The Cross Kansas, December 6, 2007 web posting

video clip lasts 10.3 minutes
The Holy Spirit, through Paul, God bless him, has opened my closed eyes!
I HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH JESUS LOVES US! Sermon excerpts and my comments are below the video
Excerpts from Paul's sermon on The Cross with some of my comments (in green italics) interspersed
.
What was in the cup? What is it that caused Christ to tremble? The WRATH of God!(God's hatred (of sin) was in the cup) God's FIERCE HATRED for all that is evil.
All men are under the fierce, just wrath of God because of their vile (wretchedly bad - offensive) wickedness
(evil - turning away from God).
Someone had to drink down (endure, suffer) that wrath!
Jesus Christ, on that tree, bore the guilt of His people (suffered the damnation - absence of God, being forsaken by God,
God turning away from, abandoning) and stood in their law place.
Then all the Holy Just Hatred - Wrath, Judgement, and Justice of God, like blinding light, came crushing down on the head of His only begotten Son.
Have you never read "... and it pleased the Lord, Yahweh (a name of God, transliterated by scholars from the Tetragrammaton and commonly
rendered Jehovah), to crush Him"? To grind Him to powder.
In summary of the cup of wrath in the Old Testament, God, saying "Because of the wickedness and rebellion of the nation, I will send the full force of my wrath. I
will hand them my cup and I will make them drink it and they will stagger and die (suffer damnation)." But, on that tree, Christ drank
the cup! (in our stead - how he loves us! And we are so unworthy.)
Someone had to die. (death in God - damnation!) (God's) Justice had to be satisfied. To demonstrate love, God had to put away sin first and there was only one way to do it - the (SPIRITUAL) death of the only begotten Son of God.
He died. (He died unto His Father - "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"
that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Mt 27:46) NKJV; God the Father turned away from His Son, Jesus, who was now
suffering HELL! for our sins )
(On a daily basis, when I think about what Paul has shared with us here, I shudder. I am overcome with immense emotion and I weep with intense sorrow
for my sins and and extreme gratitude for God's love. There is an understanding here I want to share with everyone. I had always thought that what Jesus suffered for us was the
pain of crucifixion and scourging and that is how we were saved. The Holy Spirit has opened my eyes to God's truth. The cross was absolutely nothing compared to the devestating
HELL he endured in His Father forsaking Him - the wrath of God spoken of so often in the Old Testament. I NEVER KNEW THIS. I pray for a way for the Holy Spirit to share His
insight and understanding with everyone and that is why I have made these postings to my web page and will send my URL to many to share the Gospel of our LORD and Savior, Jesus,
The Christ. Thank You God for Your love. Thank You for Your Son, Jesus, The Christ, and His ultimate sacrifice. Thank You Holy Spirit for Your understanding light to see and know
these things, and thank You for my life. I give glory, worship, repentence and thanksgiving to You, God, almighty Father, Amen.)
