IMPORTANT USB INSTALLATION NOTE! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING INSTALLATION USING THE USB FEATURE OF THE TOSHIBA PCX1100U CABLE MODEM. Here are the simple steps to take to successfully install your Toshiba PCX1100U Cable Modem. 1) Connect the PCX1100U to the power adapter 2) Connect the ·Type A· end of the USB cable to the USB port of your PC 3) Plug the ·Type B· end of the USB cable into the back of the Cable Modem 4) The Add New Hardware Wizard appears. Click on ·Next· 5) Insert the USB driver CD into your CD-ROM 6) Select ·Search for a Suitable Driver for my Device· and click ·Next· 7) IMPORTANT! Select ·Specify a Location· and click ·Next.· 8) Type in :\pcx1100u\ and click ·OK·. For example, if you are using Windows 98SE, and your CD-ROM was Drive E, you would type in E:\pcx1100u\windows98se 9) Confirm that the path is correct and click on ·Next.· Windows should then begin copying the installation drivers 10) Once this is complete, the process will be repeated for the ·PCX1100U·Networking Support· 11) Once complete, you are ready to surf the Internet at warp speed using your new PCX1100U Cable Modem If you are having trouble installing your new PCX1100U Cable Modem, you have probably installed the USB Composite Driver· that Windows 98SE automatically loads. To correct this problem, please execute the following: 1) Make sure that the USB cable is plugged into your computer 2) Go to the Start button; choose ·Settings· and then ·Control Panel.· 3) From inside the ·Control Panel· choose ·System· 4) Choose the tab on the top of the screen for ·Device Manager· 5) Click the ·+· next to ·Universal Serial Bus Controllers· 6) Click on ·USB Composite Device· to select it and choose ·Remove· 7) Once the USB Composite Device is removed, follow the installation instructions above.
