Germans Brainstorm were very smart to orchestrate a deal with Metal Blade for their last album, AMBIGUITY. The greater distribution makes it easier for the band to be heard, especially in the US. METUS MORTIS picks up pretty much where AMBIGUITY left off. I think it might be a little heavier, and overall I think it's probably a little more solid an album. Brainstorm play mainly straight-up Power Metal, with some songs bordering on thrash. The songs feature lots of great choruses and double-bass drumming. Highlights include "Blind Suffering", "Hollow Hideaway" "Into The Never" and "Meet Me In The Dark". But really, there's not a bad song on the album. Singer Andy B. Franck, (also of Symphorce) sings in his trademark style, he's simply one of the best singers out there. In my opinion, Brainstorm continue to be one of the top Power Metal bands in the world. I've been a fan since 1998's UNHOLY, and will keep following the band especially with releases as strong as METUS MORTIS!
