| I first heard of the German band Chroming Rose in an article comparing them to Savatage. At first, I thought they sounded a little like Savatage, but over time I realized they sound nothing like them. In fact, I haven't heard any other band that sounds like this. What NEW WORLD offers is 12 crushing guitar-heavy Power Metal songs. SC Wuller's guitar playing really rips your face off. It's all over the place, but it's also deep in the groove. The drums and bass are awesome, but Tom Reiners' vocals really set the band apart from Savatage or any other band. They explore some moods and places that other bands have not yet attempted to.
Heavy doses of attitude and groove can be found on NEW WORLD. Songs such as "Help Me," Gotta Gimme More," and "Groove Me" will rock you. My favorite song is still "I Died A Little," a power ballad with a great chorus. This is a unique album, by a unique band. CR decided to take a more commercial approach after this album, but this album stands as a classic. Pulse Records re-released this album in 1997, probably the only place you can still get it. I highly recommend you buy it on their webpage: Impulse Music DISCOGRAPHY:
