| Thunder! Lightning! Fighting! Heavy Metal in the night...
For great sword-and-dragon Power Metal, look no further than Dream Evil. This band takes all the clichés and uses them to their advantage in creating DRAGONSLAYER, a very solid album. If you love to hear the words: dragon, wizard, king, sword and fight, then this album will be your dream come true! Seriously, this album is not original, but it's so good, I never even thought twice about the subject matter until I had listened to it three of four times. Dream Evil is somewhat of a supergroup, it's members including drummer Snowy Shaw, bassist Peter Stalfors, producer-guitarist Fredrik Nordstrom and whiz-kid guitarist Gus G. The production and mix of the album, by Nordstrum, is perfect and you can hear every instrument clearly. He has produced other Swedish bands like In Flames and Dark Tranquillity with amazing results. The vocals, by Niklas Isfeldt, are right on the money for this band. He is a perfect fit and a truly gifted singer. The backing vocals are huge and fun to sing along to. The most memorable songs include "In Flames You Burn," "Save Us," "Heavy Metal In The Night" and "Hail To The King." The design and layout of the booklet is really cool and in full color with all lyrics, etc. I don't have much else to say about Dream Evil, except that I really enjoy this album. This is some of the best Power Metal I've heard in a while. Also, guitarist Gus G has a band called Firewind which I've heard and was impressed by as well. DISCOGRAPHY:
