Other headbangers and I enjoyed a really great performance by the best vocalist in Metal, Rob Rock, on Saturday night. This was basically a warm-up gig for Rob’s European tour and the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany.

Rob’s band is tight (same lineup as the Power of Metal show) and they sound great. They came onstage to “Rock The Earth,” a new song that will be on Rob’s forthcoming album, “Eyes of Eternity.” Great song, as were all the new ones they played, which also included “Eyes of Eternity,” “Rage of Creation,” “Symphony 40,” “Fields of Fire,” and “The Everlasting.” My favorite was “Rage of Creation.”
If the rest of the songs on the new album are this amazing, then we will soon have Album of the Year in our hands, true believers! There are only a few bands making this quality of METAL anymore! Other classic songs played were from Rob’s first solo album, a MARS song and an Impellitteri song. It blows me away when the band plays an Impellitteri song and guitarists Bob Rossi and Rick Renstrom trade licks. It’s like having two Chris Impellitteri’s in the band! They ended the show with the now-classic “Judgment Day,” one of the greatest Metal songs ever composed.

Overall, a great show! I wish I could see the Bang Your Head performance, but I’ll have to settle for when the band comes back here in August.
