Object: M27 Camera: Meade DSI Pro
Date: August, 2006 Lens: Meade LX90/6.3 focal reducer
Exposure: R:17';UHC/G:14'30";B:7'40" - Location: West Boylston, MA

Processing:
  1. For this image I used a Lumicon UHC filter to collect data for the green channel
  2. Saved data in FITS format, yielding true greyscale images
  3. Aligned the RGB images in AutostarSuite's Image Processing software
  4. Merged those aligned images in PS7 via "merge channels"
  5. Adjusted levels and curves
  6. Added the Ha channel as a layer
    • Opacity set to 50%
    • Blending mode set to Luminance
    • Free Transform to align Ha with the rest

This image is my first real success with the Meade DSI Pro. My first attempt at this object yielded an image with nearly no green data present. I tried the UHC filter for collection and then used it as the green data. The results are much better, I think. The diffraction spikes are added artificially using some Photoshop actions I picked up from Noel Carboni online. Some folks don't like them, some do. Right now, I think they're pretty neat.
