Most of
SULLENS/SULLINS individuals in Dee's database are from the family that settled
in Marion County, AL and are descendants of Richard Sullins born about 1720 in
the British Isle. Several pictures are
available in these pages that may interest those familiar to the Marion County
family.
Our SULLINS ancestor, James H. Sullins, moved to
Marion County, Alabama from Boone County, Missouri in about 1828. The family brought
their slaves and settled in an area approximately ten miles east of Hamilton.
All Sullens/Sullins that appear in the three volume set "Cemetery
Inscriptions of Marion County, Alabama", Stalcup and Stalcup, dated 1976
have been identified as descendants.
James H. Sullins was born in Tennessee in 1800.
His parents, John Sullins and Frances Edwards, had departed from Halifax
County, Virginia in the 1790s, moved to Rutherford Co., TN by 1803 and later
moved to Boone County, Missouri before 1820.
