Greetings from Chapter 64”-
The March meeting was canceled due to a snow storm.

THE APRIL LEADING EDGE (Message from the President)

Well the weather did not cooperated for the March meeting. Let me apologize if you were not contacted of the cancellation. The decision was mine and was based on the weather forecast for the meeting time…I did not want any of our members hurt attempting to make the event in bad weather. We have a lot of information to cover this month to make up for the loss of the Mar meeting. While we don’t have a formal speaker for the meeting, I will make a presentation on the Daisymae biplane…a very interesting design by one of the local EAA members from Missouri.

We do have a special guest speaker for the May meeting; Diana Votaw who will give a presentation on the Cub Crafter Sport Cub S2 she owns. Diana is a local aviation enthusiast who operates Votaw Aviation (http://www.votawaviation.com) giving instruction, tail wheel check outs and performing aerial photography. Diana and the Cub S2 are located at Sparta-Hunter Airport. Diana’s presentation will address her experience with the S2...to include her flight from Washington in the craft…as well as a chance for us to see the aircraft up close. Diana plans to bring the airplane to the meeting as part of her “show and tell” presentation. This will require the meeting time to move forward to 5PM show so she can return to Sparta in daylight (she operates the aircraft under Sport Pilot rules). We will discuss the meeting time change at the April meeting. This presentation should be a good one, so definitely plan on attending.

As discussed in the March Leading Edge, I would like to discuss the chapter attending many of the local flying events, Chapter 64 support for the Second Annual Sparta Fly-In scheduled for 14 Jun 08...remember, this event supports Brain Tumor research and Brian Kissinger‘s quest to raise a $1 Million for brain tumor research…and the postponed trip to the National Museum of the Air Force. We now have a pretty good idea of the cost and length of time to make the trip. These items along with the Daisymae biplane presentation will make for a lively meeting. So see you on 1 April…good weather permitting. Until then…

…keep ‘em flying.
