
“Greetings from Chapter 64”-Happy Labor Day! Now we’re talking some good flying weather. As the leaves change, change your attitude by getting aloft. This weekend is the St. Louis Fair and Air Show at Chesterfield Airport. You can search St. Louis Fair and Air Show, get on their website, and get all the scoop. This newsletter is of abbreviated fashion as I am out of time as usual.
The August minutes are as follows:
August 2, 2005 Downtown Airport Called to order: 7:10 27 members present.
Thanks Mike and Maggie for lining up the pizzas. The club welcomes 2 new members:
Al Bane and Tom Flaig.
Secretary’s Report: Waived due to newsletter mailing
Treasurer’s Report: As of 7/14/05, club balance is $14,699.96. 609.78
of this earmarked for YE fuel donated by PARX
Correspondence: Bob mentioned that Schafer Airport is trying to get their
reliever status back and that August 3-9, we should try to land at Schafer
to help get his count up.
Old Business: The famous tug was brought up. Bill Florich said that the museum
does not want this equipment. Henry said that Norm has tried to call Mike
3 times. Somehow Mike has not received any of these messages, but Henry said
Norm still wants the tug. Mike said that he will call Norm to finalize the
deal.
BD-5 project is ongoing. Mike Lotz said he will bring the wings to his shop
for a Fall meeting at which time we will bust butt on this project.
Hangar Discussion: Bob said he is still waiting on the legal description.
This document is supposed to be in his office around August 5th. He also stated
he is waiting for the leasehold that Curt is to change around. Mike and Curt
said they will get together and make the changes.
New Business: None
Meeting Schedule
September meeting will be at Downtown Airport on Tuesday, September 6th. Meeting
at 7:00.
NO FOOD SINCE NO ONE SIGNED UP!! The list goes around every week and the same
people sign up
every time.
Committee Reports
Librarian-None
Technical Advisor- Walt said that he went to Schafer and viewed Mark Sletten’s
Lancair project. Mark is set to get his delta hawk diesel engine in September.
We hope for a report or possible meeting to view this engine installation
down the road.
Program Director- Walt says we need to work on the BD-5 (See above)
Young Eagles- Larry had nothing new but said he would like an early October
Rally. This date has been set for Saturday, October 1st to coincide with the
Downtown Airport Fly-In. If you can participate in any way, call Larry Frey
at 654-7808. (An earlier email was sent by Larry with details.)
Projects-Wally said Roy Bishoff has an airplane for sale. I neglected to write
down the type but the fuselage is welded although surface rust has set in.
The best part is he is including a low time O-320 for the total sum of $10,000.
See Wally if interested.
Tools-Jim said the tools are all in. Mike Brenner brought up clecos. The club
is looking for donations. We would like to acquire 2 sets of clecos for the
tool shed. We are looking for 3/32, and 1/8. We will also take 3/16. Jim said
he will talk to his Boeing connection to see if he can come up with some.
50/50 Drawing-Henry won $16 with $16 going to the club.
