SEPTEMBER 2008 “Greetings from Chapter 64”- The September minutes are as follows: We are still looking at Oct.18 for the trip to
the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. If interested contact
Bill Buchholz - He is looking to get a bus full of people to
go and if not they will take vans and cars. Call Billy at (636)
447-5058 if you are interested in going on the trip. Rick Rehg nominated Brian Kissinger to be president. Bill Rohland nominated Diane Earhart to be vice president. Treasurer nominees are Mike Lotz and Ron Peek. Bill Aanstadt was nominated for secretary. Ed Hayes volunteered to be the new librarian. We discussed getting the Wings of Hope to come in and give us a presentation on their program sometime in the winter months. Diane referenced a discussion about getting new T-shirts for the UL club with a new logo and wondered if there is an interest in newly designed t-shirts for EAA64. We discussed getting t-shirts for Young Eagles but we won’t be permitted to sell them at the Young Eagle events themselves - the rules won’t permit that. It was suggested we continue to research. Diane also suggested we get name tags as many other chapters do that. After a brief discussion a motion was made, seconded and passed by vote to proceed with getting name tags for all members. Diane is going to find a source for the tags. Brian Kissinger presented Todd Drenkhaus with a plaque for “accepting the risk and tasting the glory of aviation”. The plaque was made in part from the fuel filler cap from Todd’s recently damaged Luscombe!! Meeting Schedule Ken Gotschall has been flying the Comanche. Bob McDaniel flew his 1967 Cessna 172 for the first time, he did some panel cleanup and now has it flying. On the airport side of the house, Terry Bowman, a firefighter demonstrated the airport fire truck. This is a 1500 gal truck, the airport will be getting a six wheeled 3000 gallon machine in the near future. Larry said he finally has the canopy finished and hopes to take it home and start painting. Brian has the L4 back up and flying, back at Sparta
also.
Tom Fischer, friend of Todd Drenkhaus, has a Cherokee 180 that he keeps at Shafer Field. He stripped and painted the Cherokee one wing at a time and did the fuselage in pieces. Tom did the painting himself. Tom enjoys going to OshKosh whenever he can. Tim Coner, friend of Bill Aanstadt, is an A&P and soon to be an IA. He works in sheet metal shop and has been hooked on aviation since 14. He grew up in Colorado. Forrest King, just moved to St. Louis and resides in the South County area. He is an EAA member, private pilot and hopes to start building in fall or spring. He is interested in helping others and wants to learn about others projects. The meeting was adjourned @ 7:44PM with 27 members
