NOVEMBER 2008 “Greetings from Chapter 64”- The November minutes are as follows: New Business: The EAA64 Christmas party will be held January 17 at Fischers Restaurant in Belleville. It will include Roast beef, carved ham, fried chicken, salad, veggies, dessert, tea, and coffee for $17 per head. Cash bar is available. The Illinois Pilots Association group will be joining us for the party. Shaky Dave is a great one man band and will be entertaining us again this year. Come join us, it’s always a good time!! Walt received correspondence from EAA and they are looking for candidates to sponsor as an aero scholar student. Brian talked about name tags – thx to Diane for providing. Brian had a tag w/ a magnetic back w/ EAA artwork. These are available with volume discounts. It was decided to table the topic and decide next month if we want the chapter to buy these or each person buys their own. For those who weren’t here last month we
have new officers for next year – they are as follows: Diane talked about their trip to EAA in OshKosh set up to train chapter leaders. It started Friday at 5, all day Saturday and Sunday until noon. She said there is a lot of interaction and discussion on activities that worked in other chapters, fundraiser ideas, etc.. It was a great program and provided valuable information. They also provided a behind the scenes tour of the EAA museum. They do this quarterly, back to back. The general aviation space group is selling lovely 2009 Saint Louis entertainment books. It has many kinds of coupons including 5 coupons for ‘Shop and Save” that more than pay for the price of the book. Contact Diane Earhart if interested. We had 3 visitors present. A young man named Jordan Luscara was in attendance along with his father. Jordan is a junior in high school and is interested in majoring in aviation in college. Jeff Nelson, a visitor, is building a KR2 with a RevMaster engine. He is currently working on the wings. Jeff flew F-111s in air force. Meeting Schedule Diane reported that 2 rocket motors were tested and one disintegrated. Walt’s plane is out of the paint shop. Has red-white-blue stripe on the wing tips. Looking more toward Jan/Feb for first flight. Walt suggested we buy a cam-loc pliers at a cost of approximately $29 and add it to the club tool crib. The status of the 1941 Meyers O.T.W. Bi-plane restoration project at the air museum is an unknown at this time. 50/50 Drawing- Bill Buchholz won the 50/50 - $17 and donated it back to the chapter – thank you Bill! A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned @ 7:50PM with 24 members present. Wally is cooking in December.
